DVD Drive grinds on certain backups...some ideas?

hi,

my dvd drive grinds through the loading sections fo some games (on oriignals too) every game this happens but it isnt a big deal. jsut a few clicks fo grindign then its fone.

but onm certain games such as Fight night round3 and Kane and Lynch dead men my dvd drive grinds pretty much all the tiem in short half a second doses. like once a second...its hard to explain.

im running ixtreme at 5X disc drive speed. could this be why?

is it worth me trying 8X or will that small upgrade in speed make little difference?

Try 12X. That's the original speed or the 360.

hi,

ive now tried them all but no good. its strange because when theres a clip of movie being played the drive is silent yet when you start walking about in Kane and lynch it starts clicking/grinding again.

oh welol. unless anyone can tihkn of a solution il live with it and jsut replace the drive hwen it breaks completely.

i'm not sure if your "grinding" noise is the same grinding noise that i had. if it is, there might be a fix out there. i didn't know about this fix, and ended up buying a new drive, which is fine because now i have a backup. however, check this out....
