So i opened up the battery after a few cuts and i actually cut too deep while trying to open it and it peirced the lithium batter pack and smoked. i used an exacto knife to take the 5 pin off and put it back together and put it in psp to see if it would even power on, thankfully it did. now i put all the files on the memory stick and tryed to use the partitioner but when i type in mmsinst K msipl.bin it gives me this.

Target DRIVE is 4
Check partation Sector
boot status 0X80
start head 0x03
start sec/cyl 0x0002
partation type 0x0B
last head 0x7F
last sec/cyl 0xDFFF
abs sector 0x000000BE
ttl sector 0x007A0F42
signature 0xAA55
Check BPB Sector
signature AA55
Check free reserved sector:to small reserved sector

and thats all it gives me. Did it work because on the guide it says it will prompt me to continue?

You dont need to use ms.inst and ms.ipl anymore. Try this UPMS it does it all for you. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/580254

It would be kind of hard to use UPMS on a official firmware PSP.

Go HERE and use this easy installer to create Universal Unbricker v3 which will install 3.71 M33-2 to the PSP.

If you still have issues try using a different memory Stick and if your using Vista on the PC try finding someone that has XP and create it on that. Vista has issues when trying to logically format the Memory Stick.

What firmware did you have on it before?

Was it custom firmware?

Can you get into the recovery menu if you had custom firmware installed?

Press R-trigger while turning on the PSP to get into recovery menu.

@sn0wman1

I know he doesn't actually say if he has custom or official firmware but I assume he either has a brick or has official if he is hardmodding the battery. But I guess I shouldn't assume that either because you never know what newbies will do.

Try using a diffrent Memory Stick and if your OS is VISTA then this could be the issue as well. Find a PC that is running XP and try creating the Magic Memory Stick with that.

1GB or below is recommended.

I would also recommend buying it in a retail store and not e-bay.

E-bay tends to have fake Memory Sticks which if you bought the memoery stick off e-bay it could be the reason your having issues as well.
