I have a old PSP battery my friend gave me from his broken (crushed into small pieces) PSP. Since I don't have access to a 1.50 firmware PSP to create a Pandora's Battery, I thought to pop it open and desolder the ground to the EPPROM. All the sources I checked told me that the battery was very easy to open. Just to be sure I went around it a few times with an exacto knife. When trying to pry the thing open, smoke started coming out of it (I was trying to pry it open from the bottom, opposite of where the connector is. This battery is from a 3 year old PSP. I don't know much about LI-ION batteries. Did I knick the battery cell? Is this dangerous. Most important, can I still use it as a pandora's battery? (Im thinking not)

I'd get rid of it if I were you. Don't throw it in the trash in case of fire. Place it on a solid flame retardant surface until it can properly be disposed.

If you are a risk taker then keep it and give it a shot because as long as the circuitry still works and hasn't been burned it might still work with the AC charger plugged into the PSP. I doubt the battery will hold the required amount of charge though.
