Hey there, is it possible to burn some videos through divx, onto a dvd. (making it a DivX DvD)
Then insert the dvd in your 360 and watch away?

Yeah, I just burn a bunch of Divx .AVI's to a DL disc and it shows up as mixed media disc. Go to the videos folder and hit X to select disc and watch away.

A dual layer? Regular dvds wont work?
I went into divx player 6.6 and added three .avi's to it and burned them, but my 360 says unrecognizable media.

I only used a DL disc because I had almost 8 Gig of divx files to backup. I also used Nero and burned them as a data dvd.

I just got a 360 and tried it. I had previously burned a whole bunch of AVI and WMV files onto a regular DVD+R. I used Nero and burned them as data DVD's. It works fine.

it's cool that it works, i'd do it, but it's just i'm too picky about what goes near my lasers (i only do HD-DVDs in the HDDVDaddon, and i only do Retail games in the 360) after my ps2 had issues w/ the laser and i just chalked it up to wasting time watching vids w/ it against playing games....
so i just use my PSP as a USB hard-drive and put upto 3970MB (roughly 3.8GB) of movies on the memstick and use that instead......
but this is cool that it works, just too bad there is no way to rip it from the disc to the 360HD.

whilst on the subject of divx, just built a new pc with vista. Got the Media centre up and running but when i try to play a divx or xvid movie through MC on the 360, it doesnt work due to codec problems. I would have though that one of the codecs (the 360s newly added support, or the codecs i installed to my computer to get them to play on MC on my pc (ffdshow) would have fixed this). Any suggestions?
