So I'm thinking about getting a PS2 to play the older NES and SNES games. I have read through some post and they talk about using a Swap magic. I checked on there website and it says you don't need a modchip to emulate with this disc, then I found some threads that contradict that. So can anyone settle this for me please?

So which consoles can you exactly emulate with the PS2?

What are my options to emulate old console games?

One more, whats this Magic switch actually do?

I have done a search, but everything seems to date back to 2005 so I just want to make sure I'm up to speed before I try this.

Thanks guys

you can load sega genesis , snes , nes ,.. Not N64 =(
Buy swap magic 3.6!! You dont need a modchip by 3.6
put the emulator on the cd-r and boot it with the swap disk ( you get it by 3.6 ;) )

The magic switch tricks the PS2 into thinking the lid is still shut after the swap magic boot disc loads up.

To be honest I dont see the big deal. Just get the ghost case and ghost switch and its a great deal said and done.

I have used the "ghost" switch but since I got my new slim I decided to just stuff some sticky tack down in the hole where the ghost switch would go instead, then I slide the disc break over and stuff some more sticky tack in the hole above it. That way you dont need to open it up and void the warranty that is if thats what the magic switch requires.

If you dont care about the warranty ( if you have the slim you should, the laser sucks ) I would get the whole entire ghost case. It comes with the ghost switch but I have not yet had any experience with the magic switch. I would just get the case, it adds a nice new look to the PS2 anyway.

Word on the streets is.

I had mine for about a year or more and it went but I did use it alot for music and dvd. One thing I know that does make the difference like some have said on here is the media you use to burn on. Good media means less stress on the laser. I think the 79001 has a better laser than the earlier slims but I have just got mine a few days ago and I dont think anyone could tell just yet anyway.

Use sony dvds and cds.

i can play snes on my ps2. its the latest version. 79001

im trying to play nes too(excitebike) but i need a ps1 original game and i dont own one. So im downloading right now some tools to put on a cd hope this make it work.

To answer your question, you can play SNES on your ps2.

btw, snes station does not support 7z rom files.

i just got this dvd with the most popular games for snes, they are about 700 or so , burn to dvd and plays like butter lol

snes station on a cd sucks..... maybe the cd is cheap. Tommorrow im going to try to play excitebike (NES) but honestly i like snes better than weak NES.

international super star soccer,Zelda link to past, mortal kombat, street fighter, mario bros you name them. I love this .

If you dont have a memory card you better buy one , you dont need this to play the games but u might want to save your game records.

oh and i use swap magic 3.6 and magic tools 3 (cost about 3-10 bucks).

thats all i need.
