got a japanese wii with d2c modchip fitted , can't get any downloaded backups to work, can anyone help ?

Hi,
I have a PAL Wii and updated to the latest 3.1E firmware,and can not get my previous working backups to work now.Only original games will boot up.
Any help appreciated.

Are the backup games Japanese also? What brand of DVDs are you using?

Hi NDarkness,
I am using PAL backups with a PAL Wii,and use Ritek G05 dye discs burned @ x2.4.
Likei said,they all worked fine until i updated my console via internet on Xmas Day.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, with the d2C chip there is very little that one can do.
Because of its stealth, it's very difficult to access it vis software to check it.
Because of the numerous solder points, it's very likely that just by moving the Wii or even the DVD drive vibrations could loosen an imperfect solder point and make the chip non-functional.
Because the sudden nature of the eb\vent, I think this is a hardware failure>
Either the chip is dead, oo one solder point went bad.
My suggestion is, if you know what you're doing or you are a fast learner and can research the matter, open your Wii, check the solder points visually and with a tester.
Where's the party?!?

hi i have tried a japanese backup using maxell 16x dvd-r
still no joy , i think it may be time to open it up and check inside

ex i have got the EXACT same problem as u man.. if u find a solution lemem know.
what about all these recovery/config/gcos discs etc...
will any ov them work with 3.1E ??
and can some1 explain what these different config 1.2/1.3/1.9g/1.9b discs are? im getting really confused
jus want to reset my wiikey settings but if my wiikey cant ready backups.. how can i get around it ?

1) First of all you cannot possibly have the same problem, since you have a Wiikey and this is a thread about the D2ckey. (Totally different mod chips)
2) A better place for questions about Wiikey would be here
