I couldn't figure out where to post this, so I chose the General Discussion.
I am thinking of buying a PSP, but I need an advice on which one to get: normal, Lite, or Slim? What are the differences, specs, downgrading, and homebrew and backup games compatibilty?

Ok first of all, there is 2 version of PSP.
That would be Original, ((Phat)) and 2000 ((Slim or Lite))

Original PSPs cost less because they are older.

Slims cost more but are faster and lighter.

They can both be downgraded from a Pandora Battery. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/580254

I suggest the Slim obviously!

But price so yeah.

PS. I've waited all night now to open gifts and it's 4 AM!

the slim psp doesn't support 1.50 kernel ,so some emulators and some homebrew apps dont work this does not affect psp games or psx games

you can see here what is compatible with the slim

phat psp is good and better there are no disadvantages but slim is good but there are some disadvantages no 1.50 kernel slim is very light and just like a tissue paper it cannot be holded in the hands nicely and as i experienced while playing tekken dark resurection u cannot perform the moves because slim d-pad buttons are very hard. i have slim and phat both psps but mostly i play on phat becuase i like phat.

Sorry to tell you but there are disadvantages of the older models.....

Not only is it heavier it's slower.

The Slim has a cache to store stuff in to make loading screens+whatnot faster.

+Video out on Slims to play your PSP on the TV.

+Others.

i suggest phat psp.well if you prefer slim then go on,just that you'll lose som compatibilties on homebrew.if you doesnt really want to use homebrew, slim is your choice.anyway i dont care bout the speed diffence between slim and fat.again,i said phat's the best.
