im really new so should i have the update 1.9b or 1.9g? also should i be taking the update that super mario galaxy offers. i fear that it will mess up my wii

1.9g is the latest which fixes the SMG problem but use it at your own risk....

If the SMG backup is the same region as your Wii, then it is fine.
