My cousin has a fat psp with out custom firmware. He let someone borrow it and they gave it back and it didn't work anymore. When the psp turns on the green light turns on then turns off in 10 seconds and it doesnt boot the xmb. I thought it was a brick. I have the pandora battery and memory stick that I know works. I can get to the pandora menu and it stays on. When it gets to the second step installing 3.71 or 3.71m33 it says formating flash 0 then it turns off. My guess is that the psp dropped and it cant access the flash memory so it just gives up and turns off. Does any one have any suggestions?

Tell or Sue the person that borrowed the PSP to pay the value back.
Get a lawyer lol.

Anyway, can't access to Recovery Mode?

Lol. No, it cant access the recovery mode. It never had custom firmware. It might even be a problem with the power but i think its most likely that the psp cant access the flash memory any more.

I tried pandora and it doesnt work. The psp turns off when it tries to format flash0 during the firmware install. The guy who broke it said it just turned off and my cousin didnt see what really happened to it. My cousin didn't try to charge him for it because they're "friends."

Was the guy trying to downgrade it or maybe upgrading the firmware?

Sounds like the flash0 is corrupt to me. A NAND dump might fix this issue if that is the problem.

You would normally need a NAND dump of his PSP to restore his PSP back to normal but more then likely he never did a backup of his NAND since custom firmware has never been on the PSP.

But there is still hope by using a NAND dump of his PSP and a NAND dump of your PSP IF YOU HAVE A FAT.

The steps is as follows...

Make a NAND dump of his PSP as it is now (with Pandora Battery + Universal Unbricker V3 which you have). Make sure you copy the dump to the PC for later use.

Then you will make a NAND backup of your PSP using the Universal unbricker V3). Then restore his PSP with your NAND dump.

Now you will need to use Cory's upNandTool to restore IDStorage only. Without overwriting the other nand contents with your friends NAND backup you have kept safe on the PC.

This hopefully recovering his PSP to normal.

Go HERE for a more in depth guide on how to do this. Look under the section of Solutions.

This can be risky so I take no responsibility if you try it. But it is better then nothing.

Thanks larrylje, I heard of this. Im going to try it. It seems its the only option because the Pandora and Magic Memory Stick didnt work. I have 3.71 m33-3 so it wont be a problem. I wont see my cousin until next week so I'll let you guys know how it turns out later.
