I gave my son a used PSP for Christmas yesterday. It worked fine and he played it all day. He then charged it, but when he took it off the charger the screen was completely black.
It does make sounds, and when he puts in a game, the game appears to play, but you can't see anything. We have tried every configuration of removing the battery, starting just the the power cord on it, holding down various buttons while restarting, pressing the brightness key, etc.
There is not any homebrew on this system -- I purchased it from a kid who was not even savvy enough to know that its original problem was easily fixed (which was to start it up with the power cord and the battery removed). And my son does not know how to do that stuff. I did put a downloaded movie on it for him, but I don't think that would count as firmware, would it? Also, I tried hooking it up to the computer, but it won't recognize it. Am I going to have to buy a new one, or is this salvageable? Thanks for any help you can give.
ok i think its the problem with the lcd screen. psp is ok. open up the pitchs of psp with the compatible screw and take out the psp upper body now take out the lcd screen and under it u can see the lcd screen wire attached with motherboard just like a card. try to press it inside tightly and check if u have the same problem. if yes buy new lcd screen.
