I got a slim for xmas, so i took my phat psp and created a pandora battery and magic ms using the thread that was stickied and was just deleted today (of course!) due to ms issues being corrupted or something like that. At this point, every thing seemed to go well.

I created the ms with no problem. I pushed l and x for msipl and then went in and executed dc-3 and created the service battery... all on my phat.
Then I put the stick in my slim and put in the battery. I pressed x to install 3.71 m33. it went through the entire process showing ok for everything. installation complete press x to shut down.

I put my slim batter back in and turned it on, and this is where things went bad, it loaded the sony screen and then the screen went to the green back ground and showed the time and date.

the vsh menu came up but was frozen. since i could not navigate I turned it off and then on again. this time the vsh menu did not come up, only the time and date.

I left the battery out overnight, and when i put it back in it asked me to set the time and date. and then went to the same screen. If I press any buttons the psp turns off.

I have tried reinstalling both 3.71 m33 and ofw. nothing works. and ideas would be appreciated. PLEASE HELP!!!!

UPDATE: I was just looking at the Total Newbie PSP Slim+Fat Pandora's Battery creator guide and it mentions to hold the right shoulder button while turning it on to enter recovery so you can "Flash 1 and reset all settings" I thought that I heard somewhere that recovery menu wasn't available in slim, but I will try it when I get home tonight. If there is anything else that I should know or be trying, please let me know. thanks again.

I was reading another post from larrylje and this is what he said in his post:

"I will assume this is a PSP SLIM since you said recover to 3.60 firmware. If this is the case then you can not use any recovery folder. You will need a Pandora battery + magic memory Stick that will install 3.60 M33 or above custom firmware to your PSP."

I am at a loss of what to do now, since using pandora is what caused the problem in the first place.

Yeah, don't worry too much, the exact same thing happened to me.
Do the format flash 1 thing and you are sorted!
Oh, and the recovery menu is available in the slim, any CFW really, doesn't matter about the PSP type...

He's right, there's no recovery folder, but there is a recovery menu.

He's also right in saying the only way to flash CFW on the Slim is using the Pandora Battery, since yours seems to not work, make it again, starting from scratch.

OK, So I will try holding down the right shoulder button when I turn it on to get into the recovery menu and reformat flash. if that doesn't work then i will try making a whole new ms. sounds good to me. i'll try it and post the results this evening.

This is due to having a custom theme installed to the PSP your using to create the Magic Memory Stick.

The guide clearly said if you have a custom theme installed to the PSP to recover back to the original theme before creating the Magic Memory Stick. If you do not do this it will result in a semi-brick firmware install.

I did take the guide down because there was numerous people claiming that the application was corrupting the Memory Stick beyond repair.

If you go HERE and follow this guide instead you should be fine. If you already have a Pandora battery then skip the bottom part of the guide.

If you backed up your Battery eeprom to recover the battery make sure you transfer the eeprom.bin file over to your PC before using the easy installer.

My mistake, I thought that you were talking about removing the theme from the psp that i was using the ms on. i had no idea that the first psp would affect the second.
also, I meant no disrespect when i commented that you took down your thread. I only mentioned it because i wanted people to know what i was using when i had problems and that i was unable to go back for reference. Believe me, i am a huge fan of all that you do for this forum.
That being said, can i go into the recovery menu and format flash 1 or do i need to start all over again?

I still play my wii, just not as much. Gave my PSP to my son.

You can try it.

But I recommend using the guide I linked above and recreate the Magic Memory Stick and use that to re-install the custom firmware.

With all the talk lately of flash0 and flash1 becoming corrupt and not formating properly I just think my suggestion would be safer.

But it is up to you.

Either way after you get it fixed and booting properly I would use the Universal unbricker and Pandora again and make a backup of your NAND and place it onto your PC for safe keeping.
