Hi guys,
I got a PSP Slim last week and am trying to load customer firmware onto it. I have a slim Datel Tool Battery, but I cannot seem to properly make the magic memory stick. I ran the Total newbi Easy Installer on 3 different PCs and I get an error on every one of them. I tried it on a Vista 64 machine, a Vista 32 machine and an XP machine. I am currently at work on an XP machine which is probably my best bet. The error I am currently receiving is as follows after it copies over some files successfully.

PSP MS IPL Installer
Load IPL Code e:/msipl.bin
241664 bytes (59 block) readed
Cannot open logical drive
Press any key to continue...

Does anyone know why I am getting this? Is there any alternative way of making the magic memory stick? Can't I just copy over the needed files manually? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you need a bigger memory card. How big is your memory card? Has to be bigger than 128mb and less than 1gb (NOTE: YOU COULD USE A 1gb NO HiGHER)

OK, I couldn't get it to work on my XP machine at work either, I also tried the Pandora GUI which gave the same error about opening the logical drive, so I decided to install XP on my PC at home. Unfortunately I was an idiot and borked my Vista install at the same time but that's another story. I'll be having fun reinstalling Vista tomorrow evening.

With a fresh XP install, without installing any drivers at all first, the Newbi Easy Installer worked like a charm on the first try. I put my Datel Tool Battery into my PSP and it turned on with the screen lit up but nothing on it. I read on here that other people had the same issue with the slim and just hitting the X button caused the firmware to be flashed so I went ahead and tried it. After 2 or 3 minutes of the memory stick light flashing the PSP turned itself off. I put my regular battery back in, booted it up and Whalah, I now have custom firmware!

No I don't want to sell it. Do a Google search for Datel Tool Battery. I paid $30 for mine.
