Memory Card not being detected! please help

My memory card was working fine but then all of a sudden it won't get detected by my PSP. I assume that I would need to format it, but I will lose some of my precious game files, movies, and photos. I tried to connect my PSP to a PC with a USB connection but I can back up the files that way because the computer can't pick up on the memory stick since the PSP doesn't detect it. Is there any way I can back up my files before I format the memory stick? or did I lose it all?

external card reader, camera adapter hook-up, should be able to connect with something else

I tried a camera adapter hook-up, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with the cable. It must be the memory stick, because when I connect it with acable to the PC, it does get the removable disc, but when I click on it it says that I must enter a drive in it. Which must be the memory stick

Put it in your psp goto game scroll down to memory stick, press triangle.

should read MAGICGATE Supported, if not you got a fake and most likely memory stick failed and lost data
