I am thinking of getting A PS3 this saturday, but was wondering if i should. I have both Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. I spend most of my time on the 360 because of the online play. I dont know much about the PS3's online or anything about it. I dont know anyone who owns one so that i could try it out. but is it worth getting it for $500?
some of the good things that i know is the Blue Ray player.
what other things does the PS3 offer?

The question "Is it worth it?" is up to you my friend. I personally love my PS3.
No fee to go online
Blu Ray
built in wifi
PS1 and PS2 backwards compatability (80GB Limited, 60GB full, 20GB full)
DVD quality is upscaled when played in the PS3
I don't have to buy specific Sony peripherals. IE I'm using a USB Microsoft Lifechat 9000 headset that I got for $29. I also read that blue tooth mouse and keyboard will work on the PS3. The HDD is upgradable and again you can just buy a laptop HDD that not PS3 specific.
To flip this around, Is it worth it for me to get a 360??? I want one but for me it's kind of stupid to buy an XBox 360 just for Gears of War and Ace Combat. Reliability is also an issue for me.
I think purchasing a PS3 is well wort it but thats just my opinion.

IF you want a high resolution, game and blu ray player go with ps3. If you want the most games as of now go with xbox 360. If you want a family oriented console go with wii. I think that the ps3 and 360 are the choice to make though. Although thinking your saving money by going with the 360 is a joke. Eveyone knows that after you upgrade to wi fi and an hd-dvd drive you are over the price of the 40gb ps3 anyway. Plus it looks like blu-ray is going to win over hd dvd, but that's for another thread.

I personally love my PS3. I got my 60GB when they came out and I don't regret the price at all. It was definitely worth it. If you're not sure then go to bestbuy, circuit city, or gamestop about what they think. If you have the cash then get one for sure, but if you're skeptic then maybe just rent one or something.

I brought a 360 last week now im going to sell it. M$ is the biggest money grabbing company ever. Their headset cannot work on a computer, the harddrive, you have to export save-data with the official memory card you cant use a USB or anything.
But with sony, i use my own wireless keyboard, upgraded harddrive, headset etc. I also wouldnt pay for online play on 360 as PSN is just as good.

I know where you are coming from. Ok, so I have all 3, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. Since you play alot online, and already know how the X360 Live experience is, let me tell you, you wont find another better. I spend more time on my 360 then PS3, heck i spend more time on my Wii then the PS3, seriously. PS3 is nice, but whatever is out on both platform I always get for X360 just becuase I like Xbox Live ALOT more then the Playstation network.
Im pretty sure you get a PS3 you'll still spend most of time on live. You already know how it is, and im sure you like it. If you could, and maybe go to a friends house with PS3, go, then youll get a better idea. Well just my opinion ^ ^;
I just got my PS3 there waiting for good exclusives. Other then that, 360 all the way.

Well its just really your own taste, the member above this post likes his 360 more but i think the 360 is nothing compared to the PS3, my advise is play it then you can decide, also another reason i sold my 360 is i just checked IGN for upcoming 360 releasing gotta say quite disappointing when you compare to the PS3 exclusives coming soon, 2008 will be a better year for PS3, for sure.
Had a WII got rid of that!!
Had a 360 Just got rid of it as it is similar to the PS3 but i like Ps3 more and i finished Halo3 and Gears of War so i didnt really like any other exclusives. IMO have one or the other unless you are rich.
And when you do get a PS3 depending if all your friends have 360 you wouldnt pay for LIVE anymore and Use Psn instead as its pointless to pay for a service just as good.

No doubt I like my 360, its all about Xbox Live. You get what you pay for. My subsciption ends next month, and I'm definitely renewing it ofcourse, as it so worth it. PSN is nowhere near as good as Xbox Live. There so much more content on it, and ease of user interface. PSN pretty much like a website, ugh, just doesnt appeal to me.
Then theres the EXCLUSIVES Ziggy mentioned coming on 2008, but he didnt mention any games LOL. Ok, games worth mentioning for PS3 Exclusive, MGS4, Killzone, Little Big Planet, and what else, not to many really. As most games will be Multiplatform, GTA4, DMC4, The Last Remnant, and so on. For now Xbox 360, Fable 2, Lost Oddysey, Ninja Gaiden 2. I wouldnt say PS3 year is 2008, rather 2009. For now stick with 360, why spend more money on something that you can get for 360. Really think about the games you are looking to get in the following months TOURCHMAN (most will be multiplatform).

Are the good ones i can think of from the top of my head, PS3 is definately 2008, a retard would know that.
I knew about those games you listed but they dont appeal to me enough to keep the 360 for it.

PSN Tag is the same as here. As for your list, those arent very accurate 2008 titles, you know it too. For example FF13, FFvs13, you really think itll make it out in 2008? Not at all, FF games take long to come to states after they been released in JAP. JP isnt even dated yet, but Im guessing itll be a late fall or winter release for JAP, US early 2009. Resistance 2, where you seen the release date on that ? Playstation Home, omg WOW like i really wanna play a 2nd life -_- game. Might aswell go to www.secondlife.com lol

Maybe you cant read 'RESISTANCE 2 (MAYBE)' didnt you see the MAYBE in that. And i mentioned Playstation Home as its an answer to your beloved xbox live and it contains acheivements and better online community sharing. Those are exclusives from the top of my head there will also be multi-platform games obviously not only 4 games and they are all great Imo and many agree. 'Alot of titles wont make 08' well maybe FF FULLSTOP. well if xbox users go on about Gears of War for years and years and Halo3, why isnt that only two games, that kept me busy, oh no, actually it didnt i had it for 2 weeks and i didnt like Gears of War!
What games you got on PS3, please tell me Resistance!

I have both a ps3 and a 360 and to tell you the truth, everything i've done with the ps3 just seems to be a little easier, a little nicer to deal with. For an entertainment system (outside of gaming) the ps3 beats the 360 hands down. the fact you can actually upgrade the hard drive very easily and copy files from your home computer to the ps3 over a network and through usb sticks for example. yes the media center is nice on the 360 but your so limited to what files can be played over it.
I got my 360 over a year ago now, and it doesn't have an hdmi output on it, so any graphix comparison between the two, my ps3 looks better as well.
games and raw volume though, the 360 has the lead imo .. there is a bigger community of people playing and a bigger selection of games for the 360 just for the simple fact it was out on the market for about a year before the ps3 even came out, which adds to the whole gaming experience.
imo... for games, xbox is the choice at the moment... if your looking at the whole package... ps3 all the way..

I agree with you, PS3 does have more features outside the gaming area. Everything you said is pretty accurate. For online gaming tho, and the bigger community, that is where I stick with the 360. Thats exactly what Thread starter wants to know, wich system will he basically spend more time on online, and I say the 360. Not that its superior to the PS3 hardware wise and other non gaming features.
I like that I can browse online with the PS3, or connect to my printer lol... but yea,... so If your looking for something more, like Blu Ray Movie playback,and maybe remote play from across the country, then get PS3. ONLINE Gaming , man go with 360.

i have mine set up on my home cinema amp it is great and 4 500$ it is a bargain coz i live in england and ps3 are 395pounds sterling so that works out at 790$. trust me. get 1

Yeah i dont think Xbox 360 is worth it when you compare it to the 40gb PS3. Not having built in wireless caused me a pain in the ass, and i didnt want to dish out another £45 for a wireless reciever when my PS3 had one built in. Microsoft are just in it for the money, ps3 allows you to use third-party products with the ps3 whereas the 360 you have to use 360 products only. HELL I couldnt even export my save data with my USB in the 360, i had to buy a memory card for the 360, BUY BUY BUY. The amount of glitching and cheating going on in the Xbox live community due to the 360 being hackable pissed me off too especially in COD4 and Halo3. With Playstation Home and the PS3 starting to outsell the 360 Ps3 is growing and its starting to grow and grow. But the games on 360 are cheaper in shops and theres alot more selection, but the sports games are all multi-platform.

I guarantee you will still spend most of your time online on the Xbox 360, even if you do get yourself a PS3. Unless you have money to burn, you can hold off on it for now. Ask yourself , 'Do I really NEED it now' ? What games are planning to get ?

well the thing is i do have the money to burn my brother is buying it for me and he gave me a choice either a ps3 or an Iphone. i would rather get the iphone but my faher doesnt want to pay for the monthly bill. So i decided to get a Ps3. my cousin got one for x-mas and i didnt know so i couldnt try it out now i can, and i did. i like it. the blue ray looks nice and gameplay is fun. i might wait till they realease the Dualshock 3. Or ill just buy one of ebay. one main game i want is Metal Gear Solid 4. It looks sweet. The main reasone i want it is for Blue Ray. I have a brocher of the ps3 and somegood games i saw in there was Rachet and Clank,Unreall tournament and time crisis 4.
I will be getting my ps3 sometime next month. in the mean wile ill go to my Halo and Gears.
