when playing assassins creed (with latest update 1.1) i get an inconsistency in the screen while playing, its like a rolling line that separates the image.... not a big problem, but it still sucks. im playing with 3rd party component cables. is there a way to run assassins creed in 1080i, or is a hdmi cable the only option out?

thanks in advance

Well, I can't really help, but to say the problem is either with your TV or PS3 video settings. Because whenever I play Assassins Creed it automatically switches to 1080i instead of 720p it does for most games. I never had a problem like that with Assassins Creed.

hdmi fixed the problem and, amazingly, my 1080i tv seems to be 1080p compatible, but the game still runs at 720p. anyone know how to change that?

you cannot change that as assasins creed can only support 720p. check on the back of the game cover and it shows you which resolutions the game can be played.

hope this helped

agreed.. Read the back for supported resolutions.. 720p and thats it...So many people have the misunderstanding that because you have 1080i or 1080p tv that you can run anything and everything in 1080i or p. The Tv is only going to resolute the output of the device its set too.. PS3 game supporting 1080i, than tv going to show 1080i, PS3 set at 720p, than Tv going to show 720p, same with all formats of sound. Same with anything your playing dvd, cable, directv, etc,etc.... That is the #1 complaint we get from customers after I do a HD install.. "well the guy I bought the tv from said everthing is HD".. OMG!!! no its not!! Only the video that is currently supporting it whether it be game or movie!!!! Honestly people.. Your 10 million dollar 152" 1080p tv doesnt look any better than the person that knew what to look for and got his self a deal on a 42" 1080i.... Lastly if try to play video that is meant for a lower resolution on a tv that you have set for higher resolution than you are going to get a blown up pixelated crappy pic. That mainly applys to those tv with muiltiple HDMI and Component inputs that support certain resolutions and you try to connect your 480i or 720p device to a 1080i or p input or set your tv to 1080i or p..... I know Im ranting!!
