Alright So My ps2 stop working..wHat happens is When I put the disk in it says reading disk then the message disappears and nothing happens..Whats wrong..Then I just found out that my lil bro had da same problem then he would Hit The top of the ps2 and it would work But now it wouldnt respond any More..I think He Made it worser Can Somebody please help..Thanks

First, do not hit the top of the ps2...that can only make things worse, not better.

You are getting the disc read error correct? PS2 loads fine, then when you put a game or movie in, it won't play?

most likely the laser is dying. a recalibration or a replacement is needed.

From The Browser screen When I put in a Game For example it would pop a message saying "reading disk" Then the message would dissappear and nothing happens

Have you ever opened your ps2 before? I say before adjusting anything, just try cleaning the laser lens.

Yes I have I cleaned the laser 5 time by opening the ps2 up then using a cd lens cleaner still doesnt work

+ 1..... Hence the jolt on the top being a fix.

Recalibrating it would work but I bet anything that it would only be temp, I read that when the laer starts to die it looses focus so adjusting it higher would help extend it for a few days or weeks. I would get a new laser.

I also read somewhere that sometimes its the cog the laser spins on. Its the brass type piece that is like a screw. The laser has a extension that sits on it and a motor spins the cog. The laser part that sits on the threads has notches in it that makes the laser slide up and down on the cog while the motor spins it. Examine this cog and see if it needs cleaning. Just take some kind of fine brush to it and get the gunk out.

I know it sounds weird but after i confirmed that my fat PS2 kicked it I decided to dissect it and saw the gunk on the cog myself. If you get to cleaning it it can sometimes help the life of the laser. You see the gunk makes the calibration off which makes the laser work hard sometimes.

Just a thought, if it cant be any help now maybe it can in the future.
