Make sure you are on the latest version of 3.71m33(which is 3.71m33-4. It might not have any effect but it never hurts to be sure.) then after that press select while ur on the XMB. Scroll down to ISO Mode and scroll left or right utill you reach Sony No-UMD np9660. No umd will be needed to play isos/csos.

Phat PSP 1->MS Slot Dead.RIP
PSP SLIM->3.60->3.71->And with a lil bit of MAGIC->3.71M33->3.71M33-2->3.71M33-3->3.90M33->3.90M33-2->4.01M33-2

press the select button whilst in the xmb, this should bring up the vsh menu now change the umd mode to m33 driver or any of the no umd needed options, i have mine set on m33 driver and have encountered no probs yet :)

In the XMD screen go all the way left, then down to System Settings. Hit X. Go down to System Information and hit X again. It will show your FW version.

PSP Fat FW route over a few years now:
3.03 >1.5 >3.10 OE-A >3.40 OE-A >3.52M33-3 >3.90M33-3 > 4.01 M33 > 4.01 M33-2 ... > Gen D3
