Hi

I am new to this forum so forgive me if I break any rules or etiquete.

Can anyone help?

I have new Starview PVR box which is excellent and works perfectly 260 channels, twin tuner hard drive recording, epg, all is good and great.

One problem! How to save a recorded program to PC and play it or create a DVD?

I have connected the Box to my PC using USB cable, I can "see" all recorded files on the Starview's HDD and have coppied the required files to my local PC disk.

Now heres the problem! The saved out files have the file extension xxx.PVR and xxx.G&T ! I can not open and play these files with any application on my PC! Of the two types of file the one with the .PVR extension is the larger so I assume that this is the actual video file yet, I can not play it with Media Player, Winamp, VLC Player or even Nerovision. I have tried a couple of file conversion programs but these do not recognise the files either.

There must be a way to convert these files to MPG or AVI and then play them or create a DVD.

If anyone has the answer I will be very grateful.

Thanks.

John,

I downloaded Videoredo as you suggested.
Perfect! It does exactly what I wanted i.e. imports .pvr files easily and flawlesly, converts them to mpg's and lets me create DVD from them. The resulting video and sound is extremely high quality and the process is very quick indeed. As a bonus It allows me to quickly and easily cut, edit & join video files, add title and even automaticaly remove adverts! Such a small program and so quick!

Absolutely brilliant, thank you very very much.
Pete.

Could you let me know if you are using the"Plus" or the "TV Suite) version and how long does the "Free Trial last?

Ken,

At first I downloaded VideoRedo Plus (demo), This worked well and let me convert video files to mpg just as I wanted. The program is fully functional but is limited to 15 days use after which you must purchase it also, the ocasional "nag" screen pops up.

I then decided to try the TV Suite (v 3.1.3.544) This performs even better and there are many more useful features.

If you send me private email I will tell you where you can obtain it ;-)

Hi Pete / Lestrade

Can you email me the link (for VideoRedo or whatever software you are using to convert).

Mike
