Will an original NTSC-U gamecube game work on my jap modded wii?

I'm using a NTSC-J with wiikey, and want to play an NTSC-U gamecube game. According to online sources, the GC ISO is not compatible with wiikey so I was thinking of buying the original. However, I don't know if the region-free works for original gamecube games?

The game title is Eternal Darkness - Sanity Requiem. Anyone knows if it will work?
