Please Help a bit confused

Hey guys new to the forums and new to PSP in general. I have had a psp for about 2 months now. I know how to use devhook like it is my job. However i cant play any new games and it bothers me. Can someone please tell me if there is a new version of devhook. I have been reading up on Custom Firmware but i dont want to F up my PSP since i know it works with Devhook on a 2.71 firmware and 3.01. However i need some new games and i cant play anyting. I dont want to update, i rather use custom firmware or Devhook. Please help I DONT WANT TO BRICK MY PSP I AM SO CONFUSED

The DevHook developer (Booster) has stopped making DevHook since it has been made obsolete by custom firmware. To play newer games you must update to custom firmware.
Does anorexia induce constipation?

is it easy to use custom firmware i have a 1.5fw psp now and i love it for homebrew and playing some games that i have, however i dont want to install this custom firmware and my psp is bricked. Are there instructions out on the site somewhere for updating custom firmware and reverting back to 1.5 at a later time.

There is actually a very easy way to update to custom firmware and make an unbricker, so there is virtually no risk of bricking ever again.

If you are really against upgrading to a custom firmware in order to run this, then I suggest using an ISO loader, which you can find with a google search. But, since you must update to a custom firmware before running this, then here is another guide to get to one.

So, first, use the link to the custom firmware upgrade (^^) and follow that guide to get to 3.40 OE-A, then use the first link to make the universal unbricker / upgrader that can take you to the latest custom firmware, or back to 1.50 at any time, no computer needed.

No, not at all, you are lucky, sticking to 1.50. You can run a simple program to do the same thing.

A battery you want to convert to a Pandora (yes,it can be converted back)
So i can use the battery that came with my psp for this?

Yes, and you can either
a) Change it back and use as normal; or
b) Keep it in Pandora mode, install the Multi-IPL loader (1 kb size), and always be ready for a brick, should, God forbid, it happen.

I am confused about this step
Run the UPMS program from the XMB as you would an ISO or cso. (make sure your NO-UMD is set correctly in recovery mode-SONY NP9660)

It brings up a guide on how to install 3.40 OE-A, a custom firmware.
Scroll down slowly until you see a bright yellow icon. Click on the link below it. The download will begin.
Extract the files using WinRar, or another program that "unpacks" .rar files. Copy the 2 folders you should then see to the GAME folder that is in the PSP folder in the memory stick. Go to the Game icon on the PSP menu and run the program you should see. Once it is done flashing, follow the first link I gave you and follow the instructions there to make your Pandora battery and memory stick. From there, you can enjoy your PSP without fear of bricking.

Ok i am here now and I am very confused
For best results, follow each step in order and as follows:>>NOTE: This applies to a full version install<<
Step#1-Select the 'sleep fix Multi-IPL' option DID THIS
Step#2-Backup your eeprom, then create Your battery DID THIS
Step#3-Install UPMS with utilities (slowest)-It may take a while-Please be patient. (This will install the extras from step #4) HOW DO I DO THIS
Step#4-Skip this step if you used the 'full version' installer and selected 'Install UPMS w/ utilities from step #3 (If you used the 'Limited' version-you will have to install the programs seperately.)
