Unlike analog signal, digital is all 0's and 1's. There is no visible difference between a very expensive Monster Cable HDMI and one bought on line with gold connectors for a fraction of the price. Noel Lee, the grand master owner of Monster acknowledged this fact to a close friend. The same is true of mp3 players. There is no difference in how the internal memory holds the mp3, the only audible difference depends on the earphones used. This is easy to demonstrate with any iPod. Listen to the sound with the stock earphones and then with a pair of V-Moda or Shure earphones...wow! What a difference!
