hi guys im a newguy using HDD for ps2 can anyone tell how to use it properly...install...capabilities or compatibilities in this matter...plsss... tell me if this hdd works or tested..help me thanks.

maxtors have a high compatability with the ps2, sony used a 40gig maxtor in the official hdd.

it's not a simple plug and play like the official hdd. you can't store game saves on it, unless you have the dms4 modchip installed. you can only use the hdd in fat ps2's (with network adapter attached) or the first models of the slim ps2 (v12 or v13 and hdcombo).

also, once formatted, it cannot be recognized in windows anymore. you can use winhiip to see the hdd, but winhiip only installs or extracts games off the hdd.

i have the HP BRAND OF HDD maxtor D740X-6L what can this thing work or do to my ps2, whats the use...upload/download.. on your opinion?

the main use of using a hdd is to rip your ps2 games onto it, and run it from the hdd with hdloader. loading times are nearly gone, and you save your laser life. but not all games are compatable from being played from a hdd. HERE is where you can check if your game can be played off a hdd.
