Is there a possibility to softmod the 360 to allow playback of backups from the console hdd?

Hello,
I am greatly considering buying an Xbox 360 over the coming weekend but before I do I have a few general questions that when answered can greatly help me in the decision as to which model I would buy.
In order to legally backup purchased games:
1:Is it possible to buy a larger hard drive and install it into the case to replace the original 360 drive for larger storage space?
2:Is it possible to softmod the 360 to allow the storage and ability to play 360 games that are backed up on the 360 hdd. For clarification: I have a modified original xbox. I had the original hard drive replaced with a Maxor 200gb hard drive, and had an Xecuter2 dashboard installed (from Team Xecuter) that lets me access and play the backed up xbox games, music, video, and picture files. Also included was a tool that automatically backed up the original xbox disc onto the hard drive as well as movie discs.
So I was wondering if the same set-up, or like, could work for the Xbox 360, or would I just be stuck with having to store the backed up iso files either on my pc's hard drive, or just burn them onto dl dvd+r's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

1. Yes
2. Softmod, No. You'll never be able to play back-ups on the HDD. 360 is nothing like the original.

KKM is right. For now, you will not be able to store your games on the 360 HDD and until someone can hack the bios or find an exploit, the only thing you can do is to fool the DVD drive into thinking it has an original when you are actually playing a backup. So long as XB Live is not important to you, you will definitely want to play backups only on your 360 and store your originals elsewhere because the DVD drive will easily scratch up DVD's if they are even slightly moved while running. $1-$2 for another DVD +R DL is much cheaper than having to buy a replacement original.
If gameplay is important to you, keep your Xbox1. The 360 has new titles and spiffy graphics, but if you still find entertainment with Xbox1 games and appreciate the fast loading of games off the HDD, you'll be in for a shock when you get a 360 and have to run games off the DVD drive. Not only is there a long wait for the initial loading of the game, but you also wait for mid game loads also. I'm glad I didn't dump my XB1 before getting the 360.

but it is possible to mod your pc, to allow use of the afterdawn search function, so you could have found the answers to these questions, instead of making yet another thread n it.

Hello,
I just want to say thanks for the help that you had given me. So I decided to buy the Xbox 360 Arcade version which turned out to be a BenQ drive (not sure whether or not it has a Falcon chip), VIA VT6421a Serial ATA pci card, pioneer dvr 112d dvd burner, and finally a Samsung drive pre-flashed with the Kreon firmware.
Here's the problem that I just encountered, and after searching for hours online, and through different forums, have not been able to find a solution for this:
While my computer's power was turned off I installed the SATA chip into the "1" SATA port onto my computer (I have five different ports that are grouped together vertically; the bottom one has a 1 to the left of it). When I turned the power switch back on my cooling fan did not spin as it normally does, and my computer would not turn on. As soon as I took out the SATA card I was able to turn my computer on.
So my question is: Why does my computer's power get killed/shut off as soon as the SATA card is plugged in to any one of the five SATA slots, and is restored when the card is un-plugged? And is it possible to plug the SATA card into a different slot or device on my pc? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Edit: I found out that I have an Elite group K7VTA3 Ver 6.0 motherboard, and went online to their website and downloaded their manual. It turns out that those 5 ports were actually PCI ports instead of SATA. So, is the card still compatible with my motherboard? On the box of the sata card it says, "Support 32-Bit PCI Bus, PCI Specification 2.1

Sounds like a faulty card, or a bus addressing conflict. There isn't much you can do about either.. try the card in a different slot. If it will still not allow the hardware to boot then try it in a different machine.
The only other thing you can try (depending on the age of your bios..) is have a look for a "pnp-OS" setting and try both on and off options.
My money is on a faulty card.

At first I thought it was the card, so I installed it in my other computer and it was recognized fine and asked me to begin installing it. For the computer in my room however, I flipped the card upside down and plugged it in. After flipping the card I was able to load my computer but the card is not being recognized. According to Textbook's guide he said that most people who use the "1" port have the most difficulty in getting the card recognized, and if they have multiple ports they should use the one closest to the front of the pc. It seems that all five pci ports are grouped together vertically one above the other with the "1" spot being on the bottom.
So my question is: Which port in the configuration is the "0" port, and how do I best get my sata card recognized so I can use iPrep to create a bootable usb drive?

Pretty happy. I managed hack my 360 successfully without damaging anything. All I need to do is wait for my Samsung Kreon drive to arrive along with my Verbatim discs that were made in Hong Kong.
