but what I am trying to do is to save money...
Could you please point me to a site where I can purchase a
Samsung Dual Layer Burner that can burn x360 games and be flashed with kreon to make back ups for originals?
I cant seem to find anyway even the alternative names they given on this site..

There is no Dual layer burner that you can flash Kreon FW to... the drive you flash Kreon FW to is a DVD Rom drive not a burner.. If you have a Dual Layer burner than more than likely it will burn 360 games.. if not then you are gonna have to buy 2 drives (burner and kreon drive)... If you have a burner then get the KREON drive and try backing up a game using your current burner and that will save ya some money...
I have a LG Dual Layer burner along w/ the Kreon drive and it works great.. most people prefer the Pioneer burner but most Dual Layer Burners will work.... have fun....

and I have found these list

They said these are Samsung Drive that can be flashed with hacked Kreon Firmware but I have been googling them where I can purchase it and I can't seem to find it
And also what do you think of this Dual Layer Burner?

Is 16x DVD+R DL Speed alright? what is yours btw? Should I purchase it?

got my Samsung (Kreon) drive off E-bay...
yeah that Samsung burner should work fine.... most new burners are 16X max speed.. when you burn backups thou you wanna use 2.4X or 4X....
Yeah stick w/ Verbatim Dual Layers.. I have never had a coaster w/ them... I buy mine at Sams Club for $73 for a 50 pack.. If you don't have a Sams club near you then $31 is a good deal for a 20 pack.. the normal sale price is $29.99 for 20 at Best Buy but that is only when they are on sale.. which isn't very often..

The 162c and 163a drives are discontinued and were replaced by the other models. You can probally still find them, but if not then you have the new models.
The 162c and d have ide connections. The 163a and b are sata.
Your other option may be to just get a Samsung 360 drive to use as a stand alone ripper. Either the ms25 or the ms28 will work. Depending on where you are looking, these can be cheaper than the sh-d16x drives.
Plus, lately it's been proven that the Samsung/Kreon drives will incorrectly read an original game disc on occasion. This has been the reason for some people being banned on LIVE.

if your 360 is flashed and you make a good backup made with xbc and one of the kreon flashed drives than it will work.
please dont use all caps.

your xbox need flashed to ixtreme firmware to playbackups.
a samsung either sh-d162c, sh-d162d, sh-d163a or sh-d163b needs to be flashed with kreon firmware to make backups of your original games to play in your xbox 360.
xbc = xbox backup creator, the newest is 2.7, i believe.

Sorry to go off topic, but I realize the DL DVD burner needs to support bitsetting. However when looking at drives none mention whether they support it or not.
Does anyone have any experience with:

Edit: Also it's been awhile since I've actually built or upgraded a computer (last computer I bought I had someone else build). Is there a difference between ATAPI and EIDE. It's always been my understanding that they're just different abbreviations for the same connection. However Bestbuy uses both terms on different products, so now they have me questioning my logic.

I'd actually say he did search considering this thread was a month old when he bumped it. I think the problem is the stickied FAQS aren't noticeable enough, there's nothing to indicate they're of greater importance than the other threads.
What I do find somewhat funny and mildly annoying at the same time (what happened to our school systems?) is that the answer to his question is only like 5 posts up.

yeah, i searched but i looked in the FAQ (go figure)
Q:What PC DVD-ROM Drives will Read 360 Games?
A:The SH-D162C and the TS-H352C which have to be flashed with Kroens 0.81 Firmware, and The SH-D163A and TS-H353A flashed with kreons 0.80
firmware..
But i can't find any of these drives at newegg, are there any other drives or can anyone find any at newegg
