Hi, I have a very annoying problem! I'm downgrading someone's psp which is a 3.50 Phat but when I put the battery and UPMS while holding L button, the actual PSP boots up instead of Pandora menu!!! I tested the mem card and battery on my both homebrew PSPs which they had 3.52 and upgraded them to 3.71. So there should be nothing wrong with the pandora. Is it the PSP or what?

maybe he has a dodgy L button, have you tried downgrading to 1.5 with Lumines?

I never tried UPMS, so I suggest you TOTALNewbi easy Installer, it is easyer, just put the magic ms inside and Pandora battery and it automatically boots appearing the menu letting you to install 3.71 m33-2, so my suggest is to try TOTALNewbi easyInstaller.
