Not that I have done so but from reading other's questioning the same thing you can fit the battery in the slim but u can't close the case afterwards, and to answer the 3rd question, no it doesn't have to be a sony memory stick, most seem to swear by san disk as being just as good if not better quality wise & they're cheaper!! The same battery can be used but you have to either take battery back cover off or leave it with battery cover off.
As long as the battery is a genuine Pro duo whatever brand it shall work, Some fakes do work but there can be side effects.
