I also have a new PSP 3.71 slim I am trying to upgrade to custom firmware but I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I put in the magic memory stick into the PSP Slim 3.71 then pandoras battery and nothing shows up on the screen. The green power light comes on and thats it. I read that I am not supposed to see anything and I should just hit x and it will install the necessary files, then run the mux program to install the updated firmware. I think I am missing a really big step somewhere. I am getting really frustrated can someone please help :(

[b][/bTHATS WHAT I DO WITH MY SLIM BUT I USE A TOOL BATTERY AND YOUR UNVERSIAL UNBRICKER
You do not have to hold the L trigger button down as last user instructed.

Plus the blind install you are referring to no longer is an issue since the easy installer was updated with video support on SLIM PSP's.

The issue is more then likely that the Magic Memory Stick was not properly made. Reasons for this are Incompatible Memory Stick/Vista

Try using a different Memory Stick and or Windows XP (WinXP 64-BIT also has issues as Vista does).

Hi I managed to downgrade my PSP using DC5..but ur guide was a big help, no doubt.

Since its my first time, I think u should add these things to make it clearer:

1) Hold L then turn on PSP, to boot up to Pandora menu
2) Use ORIGINAL / DATEL fat psp battery. Fake ones don't normally work.

although im not sure if the second is entirely true. While going thru the Pandora OS readme, i noticed it says "Compatible with SLIM batteries". Is this true? Does that mean it doesn't need hardmodding?

Hi, I have a fat psp firmware 3.90 m33-2. Its full brick, which there is black screen everytime I turn on the PSP. I tried your method lots of time, I have a sandisk 256mb MS, and a pandora battery. What is wrong with the method? Can your method be installed blindly without knowing which procedure you are pressing? Please help since my bricked PSP has not been fixed for over 1 month.

After you're done making the pandora's battery and memory stick, put them in the bricked psp. Try holding the L button when you put the jigkick battery in.

1. It works with all firmwares.
2. To change to CFW, you need a datel TOOL battery or modify your battery (either with software or hardware). This is called a pandora's battery.

If you have a PSP with CFW (or a friend's), you can softmod your battery to make it pandora.

You can also open the battery, and modify the hardware to make it pandora.

If you can't or don't want to do any of these get the Datel TOOL battery.

3. Please do your research instead of asking the same questions over again.

Hey,

Ok I'm pretty sure this isn't a stupid question.....

Once Pandora and magic memory card are made and I unbrick/install CFW I want to re-format the memory card back to normal but leave the battery as it is. But will it work ? I mean do you need to have the magic memory card inserted for the unbricking and installation of CFW to work ? Because I want to keep it so incase later on my friends screws something up or I do something I always have that to back me up.

Thank you

Max

P.S. Can this work on white psp's ?

The Magic Memory Stick and Pandora Battery will install/unbrick to CFW on all PSP systems.

The only issue newer SLIM PSP's could have is converting a Battery to a Pandora Battery. But if you have a tool battery or Pandora Battery converted with a different PSP then yes it will work in the newer PSP systems to install CFW.

Hey,

I ran into a another problem. After I used the Magic Mem stick and Pandora. I backed up the Eeprom to my computer and converted the mem stick back to normal but left the battery as it is. But I need to use it all again. So will I have make the mem stick again and then re-flash the eeprom and then re-convert the battery back into service mode so its all running smoothly together or do I just need to remake the mem stick ?

Thank you

Take out the Pandora Battery from the PSP and leave it out at this time. Now plug the PSP into the AC adapter and power on the PSP(without the Battery inside PSP). After the PSP boots up you can now place the Pandora Battery back into the PSP.

Place the Battery EEPROM backup in the root of the PSP Memory Stick.

Then download Open Source Pandora Battery tool for 3.xx kernels which you can get HERE.

Extract the above download and place the ospbt_052 folder in the PSP/GAME folder directory on the PSP Memory Stick (do not bother with any of the other files in the download).

Now run OS Pandora Battery Tool 0.52 located at Game Menu Memory Stick on the PSP. At the warning menu press X to continue.

Now select "Flash only serial from ms0:/eeprom.bin" from the list of options.

After it flashes the serial back to the battery exit and power off the PSP. Unplug it from AC Adapter and take out the battery. Now reinsert the battery and use as normal.

After you have done the above steps you can delete the EEPROM and ospbt_052 folder.

Ok , i have made the magic memory card and converted my battery to Pandora, and have inserted them into the Phat PSP that I want to convert to custom Firmware, what do i do now?
The PSP has 3.73 installed.
Theres some custom firmware apps MUX2.0 and a couple of Pandora Apps.
The custom firmware apps will not open.
Thanks in advance
