What to do? Noob needs help w/ WiiKey....

Hey
I'm no stranger to modding, but I could use some help w/ my Wii. I have just recently installed a genuine WiiKey (blue, came w/ hologram) on a D2B no pins cut board.
Here's what I need some advice w/ :
I have the firmware @ 2.2 NTSC console
I'm not sure what FW is on the WiiKey...
I have a back up copy of MP3 that I used the WiiBrickBlocker on, as I did not want to run the FW update on my console w/ the WiiKey installed. Will I be OK to update the FW on the console?? I do not want this console to go down...
Also, if I do get an original Mario Galaxy, and run the update, will I still be able to use my WiiKey? I've read that it stopped working after running the SMG update. I will not be playing a back up of this game, it will be an original, so will my backups be safe after this update? ...
I am very weary of running this, after seeing the wiikey site go down... Will my backups be safe running orig. SMG in my 2.2 Wii?
Any help would be great

i am relly worried about the system updates and my wii going down aswell,,, and i just cant seem to find the answer anywhere!! i do hope some else besides me replies to your thread.

i dont have a D2B chip but i do have one the 1st sets of wiikey. i did the wiikey1.9g update, used the 1.3config.(to change settings back) and then updated via internet witch was higher then SMG. all my backedup games still work including SMG and Nihgts.

Thanks for the info. I've been reading around, and heres what I've got so far:
I have the 1.9G update Disc, 1.9B recovery Disc and the 1.3 Config Disc.
I have my wii @ 2.2 NTSC.
This is where I am having the problems... I have read that I should update to 3.1 NTSC for the FW, then 1.9G for the WiiKey. But I think that I read the 3.1 disables the WiiKey, so should I run the 1.9G, then update via internet, then SMG. What should I do?
So after this, my wii could still play all my originals, backups, inc. SMG?
Any help would be much appreciated.

i have a problem as well i updated my wiikey(its white, came with holo tho) and i use the 1.3 config after i updated with 1.9b and 1.9g i use the config and the region override will not save right every time i put the config disc back in it says that the override is turned off.
Also i try to play a PAL GameCube game and it will not load right the screen stays green forever it does that same thing when i try to load My N64 games, can any 1 help me further pls just send me a pm i would be a wonderful help to me 0_o

Would any of you know if this would work?
I just found out in the config disc that my WiiKey is @ 1.2, so if I update to 1.9G from the disc I have here, then run the update from the SMG disc, would that work? Or would I end up w/ a bricked wii? Cuz I read that SMG has the latest FW, so if I ran the update off of that, would that be just as good?
I don't wanna brick my wii, stuff up this way it a bit more $$$ive, I paid $700 for my Wii, no kidding around...

You say you turn the settings on, reset, then boot back in, and they're off? I've read somewhere that once you turn them on, they are on, but when you reboot back into the config disc, it says they're off, but they are actually on. I've only read that somewhere, I don't know for sure. What FW is your Wii @ now? your best bet is to turn region override on, and not touch it again, but I have not used games from other regions, so I don't know for sure....

Omg thanks for the feed back your the first person to reply to me in like a few days i think no one takes me serious becasue my name is butt101 ohh well i made that name becasue i didnt know i would get into this site seriously, ohh well thanks again man... if any one else can help me with my GameCube games and N64 games i would be very happy :)

Ace, this is what i recommend - based on my experiences
also i had NEVER put the SMG disc in prior to doing what i did below
update your wiikey to 1.9b
config 1.3 - turn region override on
update your wiikey to 1.9g
update through internet to latest update - 3.1
try any other game like fifa 08
run SMG let it go through motions of update

the wiikey is in stealth mode so no disc can read what its settings are - once set and saved its done no matter what disc says
did ur gamecube game work ever? reason i ask is that i have had some games do this, and it may have been due to the region of the gc game but it was nothing to do with the chip etc
only a handful of n64 games work so it may be due to that

Well the Game Cube games regions are PAL and my Wii is NTSC(u) but i turned on GC regionOverride also the N64 games are on some multi dvd thing i just downloaded off a torrent when i go to load the game they try to load them it asks what region to boot them in i hit A for automatic the screen stays green and never changes i even tryed just hitting Y for NTSC still just a green screen... Ok i got the N64 games to work i had to boot them in a different video setting not NTSC but 480p no clue why but maybe because my tv is a lil old, ohh also my sounds is really messed up some games dont even have any sounds and some like a strange squshing noise when audio tries to play...... but still no way to get my PAL Gc games to work on my Wii they just stay as a blue screen like my Wii is turned off.

WooHoo!
I got my backup of SMG working tonight. I did not want to play the game until I upgraded my chip. Here's how it went down tonite:
Updated WiiKey to 1.9B
Ran Config 1.2 to turn region override on
Updated WiiKey to 1.9G
But here's where it changed Thinone - I do not have an internet connection to my wii (no network adaptor, no wireless) After the 1.9G update, it said something like "run Galaxy", so I popped in SMG, it ran a system update and restarted my system. After this, I was able to play SMG, along w/ al my originals and backups.
Thinone, my system is now @ 3.0 NTSC after the SMG update, so if I bring my Wii to my buddys place that has wireless internet, and I run a system update, it will go to 3.1? And this will not affect my WiiKey? Cuz I've read that ppl's WiiKey's stopped working after a while, but I've also read that you have not had any problems at all, I hope I do not encounter any... So after all of this, I should be safe w/ my backups and originals?

I too got a white Wiikey, it came with the Hologram, so i believe its real, my problem is that I dont know if its working or now, i can still play all orninal games, and when i try to load the 1.0 disk it sees it was a gamecube game but then when i go to open i get a unreadable disk, does this mean its not installed correctly, and does the wiikey have a led to let you know its on?. Please help
