I cant get WMP11 or any other media server to be recognised on my Ps3 without connecting the Ps3 to my router with an ethernet cable, anything i can do to make it work wireless, also Pc is connected via ethernet.
Also what advantages/disadvantages has Tvserity got over WMP11/
Im not 100% sure how it works,im sure you have to have wi-fi on your PC in order to stream wirelessly directly from the PC to the PS3,im installing tversity just to see what its like,i will get back to you.
You should be able to stream without a wireless connection on the computer as the router acts as the postal service, taking information from one to the other.
I dont know what could be causing the issue though as it works with the ethernet cable attached and therefore the correct ports are open. Only possible thing I can think of is that your PS3 gets different IP addressesfor wireless and ethernet.
Just tried tversity my computer seemed incapable of handling it,so itried WMP11 and it works fine,i think youd just be best keeping both of them connected via ethernet.
Thanks for trying, tversity is quite complicated compared to wmp11, as Pepp77 said im sure that the Ps3 is using a different Ip so im going to test different settings, my Pc is brand new but doesnt have wireless :s.
When streaming is there any loss of quality in movies?
quality depends upon your connection speed, compression and decoding settings you are using. if you have a good pc, eg dual core 1gb ram you can use the best settings without any quality loss.
