Hey guys, I'm using Sony Vegas Platinum 8.0, fully registered to edit my videos. I'm having a really hard time importing videos I ripped from an HDD Sony camera. The video files are in MPG format, but they simply won't import! Anyone know of anything?
So you get the files to your computer's HDD, but you cannot open them with the Sony software, right?
What format does the software accept as input? You might have to convert those to a format that Sony Vegas accepts. A bit strange.
Do you have an option to save the files to a different format in your camers, for example avi or something else?
I figured it out, I wasn't actually registered. Apparently there's a two part registration with Vegas. Have to go to Help>Register Sony Vegas. I had to reinstall though, but it works now!
I am registered already and it still doesnt work. I have also tried using Ulead Video Maker and the same thing happens, I get "File Missmatch" or "Unsupported File Type" as an error. The handycam saves as MEPG2 with a MODD file as well and Both Vegas and Ulead say they support MPEG2 files. The handycam images work in Nero Showtime and WMP. Someone suggested converting the MODD file to .mpg but this is only a 1kb file, nevertheless I will try it.
Unfortunately the Sony cam will not allow saving as anything other than mpg. but converting from .mpg to .avi works but takes up a lot of space and time.
I have tried at lease 30 different 20min files. I may look into this 2nd part of registering, I dont remember a second part. will let you know the results
