the other day i called nintendo and told that the GH3 messed up my wii laser(which i really think did) but my wii is modded(didnt tell them that) but i told them i did open up my wii just to clean the laser because i heard cleaning it helps(it kinda did), they said ok send it in and our repair team can do whatever they can. so i took out the my wiikey but the problem is that i broke 2 points on my wii and im scared they will see it and not return my wii, is there a way to cover up the damage?? i dont wanna send in until i hear what people have to say. thank you
EDIT: well i got my wii back :) but all the did was change the drive to d2c no charges or fees, they kindly even put back in my missing screws lol =P nintendo is nice :)

I actually heard that someone sent in their modded Wii with the chip still inside to Nintendo once. He got his Wii back repaired along with the chip desoldered and inside the package. Pretty nice, eh?

I think they'll just replace the drive with a refurbished one. So it's OK.

That sounds about right. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act they have to honor your warranty even with the modchip. To deny your claim they would have to prove that your modchip caused the problem in question.

I screwed up my Wii when replacing my WiiD with Wiikey.
They actually replaced the unit. But the downside is they sent a D2C chipset back. More then likely you will get a D2C chipset back as well no matter if they repair the drive or send you a new unit.

heh.
Take the chip out, put it back in when you get a new / refurbished drive.
If its a d2c, then consider the fact that you have been "upgraded"
LiteOn DVD+/-RW 8X
Run down v4 /w Magic 3.1
5 non working Fujifilm DVD-RWs :(

I would keep it out of the Unit.
Just keep in mind if you have a DMS/D2A/D2B compatible Modchip you will not be able to install it on a D2C chipset.
You will need to buy a D2C compatible Modchip.
This is where I am stuck at now. My Wiikey or WiiD is not compatible with the D2C chipset. So I need to buy a D2C Modchip and no way will I install it myself.
So I am waiting for a solderless solution or a Modchip that has less wires to solder like ARGON.

Are they sending you a replacement unit or are you sending yours in just to get fixed then they are sending your unit back?
I know when I did it they where sending me a replacement Unit with the return label inside. Once I got the unit I had to send my defective 1 back within 21 days or they would charge my credit card.
If I would have done it the other way then they would have e-mailed me a shipping label.
