My friend is too cheap for the $99 wireless adapter for the 360, so i was wondering if we could use a crossover cable to share the internet connection with a computer... hmm.
Just wondering if anyone has tried/done this at all or if it even works. Thx

You mean an ethernet cable?? Yeah, I hook it up from the router to my 360 and it works fine. Crazy to pay $100 for the wireless thing.

That would be helpful, but there isn't a router to connect with unless we get like a 52' cable.
Im talking about creating a shared internet connection between the computer and the xbox ( which are in the same room ) using a CROSSOVER cable ( that means that you can directly connect 2 computers without a router/hub ) lol
PS. sorry if i gave off a rude vibe with my caps back there

lol nah all good. Yeah man, I know what you mean now, it should work just fine. I bet you the wireless adapters will be made by a third party for like $50 sometime so that will be a lot better than $100.

Yeah, agreed. Now I'm off to try it out, but networking isn't one of my finest points lol, i think if i just create a home/office network and enable sharing i should be able to, but it might have problems if i don't give it an IP address to connect to directly...

"Crazy to pay $100 for the wireless thing."
Not really, not everyone is in the same situation. Not everyone has the 360 in the room that their PC is in. Sure i have the cable and could have put it in my room with the PC and played it on my whimpy 27" TV. But why the heck would i do that when there is a 56" DLP TV in the living room? Worth every bit of the money i paid for the ethernet adapter. But it was cheaper back when i bought it and was using it for my regular Xbox.

True Steimy, good point. It's easy for me to say, my computer and 360 are in the same room and can ethernet cable them. I just think it's really overpriced and will be glad when a third party makes them for $50 or so.

Truthfully in my opinion, you can't go wrong with the adapter. If you move and have the 360 away from your pc, if you want to take it to a friends house, if you can't pay your internet bill one month and have to use the neighbors.. lol. But you get the point. I agree that is was worth every penny for me. Plus you can get them pretty cheap $45-60 on ebay.

Yeah, it would be really nice if someone would make a good ethernet adapter that was about $50 cheaper then the current one's. You can always try Ebay and bid on them hoping you will get one cheap.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll...A54G&category0=
they have one at that link with a buy it now price of $49.95 and it is the exact one i have.
If it is possible to use a crossover i would go that route as they are cheap, i got my 50 foot cable at CompUSA for $13 and it is a name brand cable, not some cheap junk cable.
