I am trying to line up all my ducks before I mod my Wii with the D2Ckey. Is this the process I will go through before I can play my backups?

Step 1: Find procedure to open the Wii
Step 2: Buy tri-screw driver and D2CKey with FlexPCB (optional)
Step 3: open Wii
Step 4: Solder D2CKey with FlexPCB to D2C chip on drive
Step 5: Close Wii
Step 6: Create 1.9g beta fix disc
Step 7: Create Config 1.3 disc
Step 8: Power "On" Wii
Step 9: Update D2CKey FW (insert 1.9g disc)(wait for Hommer voice)
Step 10: Turn "On" region override protection (insert Config 1.3 disc in GCOS mode and use a Gamecube controller)
Step 11: Power "Off" Wii
Step 12: Power "On" Wii
Step 13: Finally play game (insert backup)

Did I miss something?

I don't think you need to do use the 1.9g beta fix for the d2cKey. I believe the d2cKey does on the fly region patching. I'm not sure if it will do PAL to NTSC though. I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong on this.

I hope this is correct now.

umm, iirc config 1.3 is for Wiikey chips, not d2cKey chips.

So are you saying that all I will have to do is install the D2CKey mod chip and I can start playing my backups?

I believe that is correct. I dont think that D2CKey has need updated once.

Well there are a lot more steps but yeah that's basically it. I don't want to get too in depth or else I will confuse you more. :)

This isn't about being confusing, it's about not missing any critical steps.
Tell him what he is missing, because it looks fine to me.

That is correct and it isnt hard to find the information you need.

Step 1 : Determine What type of chipset is in your WII.

http://forums.nintendo-scene.com/index.p...msg2440#msg2440

Step 2 : Purchase needed parts.

http://www.modchipstore.com/Nintendo-Wii-Modchips-1-311.html

Step 3 : Disassemble WII.

http://www.modchipstore.com/support/inde...kbarticleid=188

Step 4: Install chip (specific soldering requirements usually on same site that the chip was purchased)

Step 5: Update chip with your region update for the chip you purchased. (Updates for you chip are traditionally on the manufacturers site)
Example: Wiinja http://www.wiinja.com/index.php?contain=utils
Wiikey http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/597460

My Wii is a newly purchased console that requires a D2CKey mod chip. Do I need to update or not? From what other people are saying, I don't. I just install, closed the Wii, power "On" and play backups. This update is for older consoles using other mod chips other than the D2CKey mod chip.

I am trying to find out specifically for Wii consoles that have the D2C chip in their drives.

I am on a D2B chipset, but from what I hear you are correct. You don't need to update your Wii if you dont want.

i'll try to make this easy for you.

For ALL d2c Nintendo Wii Consoles -

In order to play ANY backup you must have either a
-D2ckey
-Argon
-Infectious (if this one is even released yet)

Once you get the chip , install it into your console.

You do NOT need to update the chip because the chips themselves are rather difficult to update. It really doesnt matter, because there IS NO UPDATE for ANY of the above modchips!

For your console. You MAY have to update your wii to play certian games. For instance, SMG will refuse to play unless your console has been upgraded to the latest version that is contained on the disk, no if's and's or but's about it.

Some games may or may not play if you remove the update from them.

FOR BEST COMPATABILITY, UPDATE YOUR WII SYSTEM FIRMWARE TO THE LATEST SMG FIRMWARE.

If you dont get it now then...

LiteOn DVD+/-RW 8X
Run down v4 /w Magic 3.1
5 non working Fujifilm DVD-RWs :(

Thanks for the message.
I have D2Ckey installed with wii clip and everything is working fine so far. when I put newer games it asks me for wii system update.
Is it safe to do the update to 3.3 with D2Ckey in there ?
has anybody tried it ?

I assume from this you have a #000 Philips screwdriver for opening your Wii - I mention it simply because I live in a technology desert and whilst #5 Philips drivers are easy to get (they're about as thick as your big toe) anything smaller than #0 was hard work.

for the op you got it right :)
for anyone else reading this now, you have to make sure you have a d2c drive and not a d2c2. d2c2 also says d2c on the chipset but started appearing after may. for these the d2pro9 revision 2 works well. there is also a chip called the wiizard coming out that will work well. these two teams offer great support so either one would be a good choice.

My current systems :)
V12 DMS4 Lite with summ0ne fix
Xbox 1.6 - Xecuter 3 w 300GB HDD
Xbox 360 - Sammy Drive with ixtrem 1.2
Wii Rev 1.0 - Authentic Wiikey
Be sure to use the summ0ne fix on your v12 !
