It'd be stupid of Sony not to let MS release an add on Blue Ray drive when Blu Ray has officially won the 'war'. Sony will not only make money on the players themselves through licensing and other fees but every movie thats sold also nets Sony a little money.
Really why would sony care if MS makes $10 off every blue ray player when they're making $60 (prices are estimates, and probably wrong). Who could pass up making money off of their competitor.
At IBM we make a bunch of chips for Apple, even though they are our competition and produce chips of their own. The reason we do this is because of money, not because we care who we sell too (within reason).

Sony would let MS make an addon for movie playing only.....i dont think we'll see one with a internal blu ray drive but addon would only fuel the fire for ppl to buy blu rya movies and sony would make some $$ on the side figuring sony has had a few problems in different departments and needs the $$$...

Well I'm glad that the HD-DVD player wasn't the big selling point of the 360 (and wasn't included on it to jack up the price) as the Blu-Ray player is with PS3. So this was we all can play our games on a 360 and then get a Blu-Ray for movies.

Yeah, the odds of Microsoft switching to Blue Ray for their games is slightly lower than zero...however I really do think an add on dvd player would be a smart move for both parties. Mutually they benefit, though sony more so than microsoft.

When BR is declared the real winner, BR players will be the same price of a HD-DVD add on for the the 360. And yes, the PS3 comes with the BR player, but who wants to waste their laser on it? I wouldn't.
I've been streaming my BR backups to my pc to my 360 and they look great. So, that's they only way you are going to play BR on the 360.

John, you think the BR players will be the same as HD-DVD add ons??? LOL, keep dreaming!! Once HD DVD is declared officially dead (won't be long), then that means BR players will be the only game in town so without the competition, I think their prices will go up, then eventualy back down. But no way a $130 BR player for 360.

Last time I checked a HD-DVD player for the 360 was $179. How quickly do you think BR will win out anyway?

Last time I checked Blu Ray Players were at least $400. I don't want to start a flame war with you because I do not want to get banned again, I just disagree with you. Check the articles man, with Warner Brothers jumping to BR, it doesn't look good. I'm all for HD DVD since I got a 360; just looks like the big money from Sony won out.
