hey all,
i recently got married and now a bunch of people want a copy of my wedding dvd which was created by the photographer and his crew. the dvd plays normally but i can't seem to copy the disk.
im using anydvd(latest version) and clonedvd2(latest version) and i get weird read errors. like "d:/video_ts/vts_01_1.vob: read error
data error cyclic redundant check". i've tried using different copies of the dvd and they all yield the same error.
i've tried using nero to do a disc to disc copy but that fails too.
is there anyway for me to find out what copy protection is being used?
wouldnt of thought a wedding dvd will have copy protection, its either your pc drive needs a firmware update or the disc / discs (do you have more than one?) are dirty / scratched etc...
go to my computer and look into/on the dvdr and tell me what folder and file names you have there>?
if its done on a camcorder it may be dvdVR format...
for firmware update use imgburn free app = tool / drive / check for FIRMWARE upadtes
each disc is 100% brand new and clean. not a single mark on any of the discs. i've used multiple copies and no luck :(
as for the contents of the disc, i see audio_ts and video_ts folders. the audio_ts folder is empty. the video_ts folder has a bunch of BUP, IFO, and VOB files. looks like a normal dvd from what i can tell.
im using a dell m1710 laptop which is fairly beefy. running vista ultimate with 2 gigs of memory.
i have imgburn installed, how do i do a firmware update using imgburn?

the problem you have is with the cmc mag disc and the drive they are not seeing eachother due to inferior disc quailty making it hard for any drive to read, yes yes to trying another pc try a desktop pc this maybe a better drive and more compatible (note not better!) at reading this bad disc, once you have a good copy on a ood brand name like VERBATIM or TY then your lappy may be good to copy it.
