Uses for a Japanese Xenosaga?

Hello everyone.
I'm trying to get US ps2 and ps1 games to work on my Japanese ps3 using the switch/swap method, but it seems I need an original Japanese game first.

I'm thinking of buying a Xenosaga import, which I believe is 7.94GB according to the TOC list on this site.

I know it's most likely a dual-layer dvd, but is it possible to swap this game with single-layer dvd's and/or blue-colored cd games?
I've heard having the highest TOC as the original game is good, but would I need to buy separate single-layer dvd's and blue-colored cd imports as well?
