Ok, so I'm expecting my PSP2000FB (the blue slim) from Japan to arrive in the mail soon. Why from Japan you ask? Just the colour really.

My friend whom I visited over the Winter break (NOTE: I can't visit him in person anymore, as that'd involve flying across Canada) had Custom Firmware on his PSP and was able to play PSX games on it (one of the main reasons I decided to get a PSP).

Anyways, I wanted to know what else I needed in order to get CFW onto my PSP.

From what I gather from reading around, I need:

1 PSP
--> It'll probably come with 3.73 or 3.80 Original Firmware

1 additional PSP battery (in addition to original PSP battery)
--> Please Confirm.
--> Does it have to be a Datel Tool Battery?

1 MEMORY STICK PRO DUO (1GB or MORE)
1 USB Cable to Connect to PC

Currently, I have the following downloaded onto my computer:
3.71 M33
3.52 M33-4
3.52 M33

If there is anything else I should go buy / download please let me know.

What you need:

A Memory Stick 256MB to 1GB preferable... over might be risky...
A battery either datel tool OR an original FAT battery that you can HARD MOd with the help of this image. Remember to CUT PIN5

Use this guide on creating the magic stick, credits to larrylj

Is that the same as http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313 ??

If so, do I run Start.exe while the DATEL/Hardmodded battery is in the PSP, or do I use original unmodded battery?

It looks like the first portion of that guide (up until the picture of the DATEL TOOL battery) is about making the MMS, please correct me if I'm mistaken, as I want to be certain I'm reading the literature properly.

Thanks :)

EDIT:
How would I go about acquiring a DATEL TOOL Battery in Canada?
Also, if you CUT pin 5, is the battery still able to charge SAFELY (I don't have a soldering iron to solder the pin back together)??

When you are creating the MMS,use the original battery.
You will be able to charge it normally.

Dude, he is going to create a HARD MODDED pandora, so no way of magic stick able to work here, and YES you need to smolder it back, thats why I said, acquire a second battery and work with your original battery, that will work.

Actually, I decided to just get a TOOL Battery online. It's too hard trying ot find original FAT battery from retail stores.

I'm surprised that the Sony Store I went to had no PSP accessories on display other than memory sticks.

Sorry for bringing this thread up again.

DATEL Tool Battery is finally shipping out.

Is the procedure still the same if I'm on OFW 3.90??
