i am a noob when it comes to modding and the first time i ever heard of it was 3 days ago when i stumbled upon this site. so my questions are; what does modding an xbox do? what are back-up games? are the just copies? i heard about this guy who has every game he has ever played on his original xbox saved to his system. is that possible on the 360.

any help will be appreciated, and im sorry for the stupid question, if there is a thread that answers my questions, please point me in the right direction. thank you.

Modding the Xbox 360 makes it so that you can play backups on your system. The backups can only be played using Dual Layer DVD's (preferably Verbatim). On the old Xbox, you can store games on the HDD, but you can't do that (as of yet) for the Xbox 360.

ty, so the back-ups are copies, and the modding allows you to play copied games. does the original game get damaged in any way. lets say if one were to rent a game and then copy it, could it be returned?

Yes, it doesn't ruin the Original at all in any way! I've backed up all my games, and both the original and backup play fine!
