I've read that you need certain drives and also read any DL burner will work, though I believe they mean any burner to burn a game that's already backed up. So I'm probly screwed but anywho,

My drive is LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S

Can this read 360 discs or is there a firmware for it to allow it to?

Sorry about double post but I have a feeling my drive isn't compatible so if that's the case...I will have to buy a drive capable of ripping 360 games.

From what I gather these are the compatible drives...
Pioneer 111
Pioneer 112d - ebay'd at 43.98
Samsung SH-D162C (IDE)
SH-D163A (SATA)
SH-D162C
TS-H352C - ebay'd at 26.94

Is one of these way better(error free etc..) or is any one just fine for making backups? The TS-H352C seems to be the cheapest so far.

To rip games you need to get one of the Samsungs. Check the forum for information about Kreon firmware. The pioneer drive's you listed are burners and will not read a 360 disc, only burn it.

Your DVDRW drive should be fine as long as it supports DL burning.

sorry misread that, right, use one of the samsung and any DL burning dvd. I have the samsung 163A sata and it works great to rip.

Thanks for the replies but don't think it matters now.
Had my 360 modded Friday.
Played today for bout an hour and 2 red lights flashing.

Might as well flashed it myself. I love how pricks learn to flash a drive and then decide they're genious and can flash anyone's for a fee, but when it dies right afterwards they want nothing to do with it.

I've had no problems until he took it apart and now 2 red lights(supposedly overheating?). I think he may have nudged a fan loose. After spending the last 48+ hours reasearching how to backup my games, I guess I'll spend the next 48+ hours researching how to fix the damng thing.
