I am using convertxdvd to convert mkv to dvd, but whenever it converts one of my backups, the converted file is 4.43gb, nero or convertxdvd will not burn it, it keeps telling me I need to use a dual layer 8.5gb dvd. I have the setting on convertxdvd to DVD-5

Does ConverxtoDVD has a "Custom" setting? Instead of DVD 5 choose 4300MB.
Since you already have the DVD structure made, you don't want to spend another 2 hr to convert again. Instead, load the DVD in Nero Recode and shrink it a bit, make it 4300MB. It will probably take you 10 minutes or so. Then burn it.

Nero does not support MKV. You said you have already converted the MKV to a DVD but is 4.43GB. Open that DVD with Nero Recode or DVD Shrink and make it smaller so it will fit to a DVD-/+R

Here is a guide for Nero Recode:

Here is a free program you might want to give a try, it supports MKV:

Even though the label says that the capacity is 4.7GB, the real size is more close to 4.3-4.4GB. If you set the conversion size to DVD5, sometimes some software will encode over 4.4GB, which is too big. I am surprized ConverxtoDVD does not have a custom size setting.

I knew ConvertxtoDVD couldn't be lacking that basic option...couldn't say, as I don't have the soft, and dodn't feel looking for a guide on the net that might display that option....

Hi,

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/614506

You might want to try v3.00 ßeta RC1

Lots of .MKV issues were fixed in v3.00

One of them is Overflow.

See if the new bitrate calculator makes this one fit with DVD5 as the output selection.
