Hi, guys, newbie here.

I have been using HDD exploit for 7-8 months since june 2007 now. I have a 5 year old PS2 V6 SCPH-30006R modded with a chinese mod chip with no brand (although a repairman once recognized it as "Blue 3 chip". It doesn't support dev1 or 2 mode, so I gotta boot from a HDLoader DVD.

but around 2 months ago, my laser died, and I can't boot anymore. I bought a refurbished official laser a Sony 400C from ebay, but when I installed it, it didn't work. so I returned it and they gave me another refurbished 400C laser, it also didn't work. Believing they're faulty lasers, I refunded it. (full price refund, money wasted: AU$18 for shipping the lasers back to HK)

A week ago, I bought a chinese made 400Q laser, It arrived yesterday. Brand new, I had to desoldered the anti-static and I installed it. same problem, didn't work. (money wasted: AU$112)

All three of them have the same problem, when I put a dvd in, they click loudly (4 times for the first 400C refurbished laser, 6 times for the second and 400Q), with each click the disc barely spins, and stop spinning completely after the clicks. The PS2 boots to the menu window, if I go to the mem card browser window, it says "reading disc" even though it's not spinning.

I'm beginning to think it's my PS2 and not the lasers that's the problem. So, to test it, I re-installed my old 400B laser. when I put a dvd in, my old laser makes small click, very faintly, the disc spins normally, the PS2 boots to the menu window, if I go to the mem card browser window, it says "reading disc" and the disc spins normally.

So I can say the problem is not the motor taht spins the DVD. Could it be because this new lasers don't work with my PS2? Cuz from what I've read 400B, 400C and 400Q should work with my V5 (30006-R)? In total I've wasted AU$200 trying to fix everything, and still couldn't get it to work... Help!
