I have 2 external liteon dvd-rw dl burners and both work perfectly when it comes to burning my backups, so I doubt this will be any different.

i tried to burn an xbox backup and again i failed, im using imgburn,i ve setted the burning speed to 2.4, which booktype shuld i select or is it automatic,please help me and explain it step by step im kind of new to all these things...ps:when the burning is finished i look in to the dvd r dl and i see some waves in it...i dont know if this means something..when in the xbox shows (unreadable disc),my firmware also is updated...help

Waves = Bad Dye (Which isn't good, the disks dont always burn correctly).
This is how you should burn you backup using imgburn.
1. Load the .dvd file up
2. Set booktype to dvd-rom
3. Set burn speed to 2.4x
4. Click burn
It should then work, I must ask though, what game are you trying to backup, is it downloaded, all downloads do not work.

thank you, i will give it one last try... i think i have followed all the steps you ve mentioned before(is the booktype setting done before or after the dvd is inside the burner?)...as for the games i ve tryed a couple of different ones (downloaded), but i ve checked them with mulleter and everything seemed to be fine with them, thats why y think the problem must be with the burner,but i think i ve been setting booktype before the media is inside...don t know if that is important...

1-drive for media dvd+r dl

3-new setting-dvd-rom-change-ok

Are you using IMGburn? I dont remember having to select the media or anything like that. Only thing I had to do was change the layer break to 1913760, if you haven't done that go to Tools->Settings->Write and in the upper right corner there should be the layerbreak settings.
Like you I am new to all of this but I've burned two games flawlessly (or I think flawlessly, load times take forever but I think thats the 2x).
What kind of DVD's are you using? I've heard poor quality media can lead to problems reading the game, however this may be something else.

i ve heard that verbatim are the best,i am currently using pengo dvd+r dl, i know that they work fine because i alredy have some burned games on these , they were burned by a friend of mine who has a pioneer 111d burner, i alredy followed your previews instructions putted those numbers and changed the settings for (user specified) and unchecked a box for (auto change book type)...apreciate your help..

lil_g06, what firmware do you have in your liteon drivers...mine doesn t seem to support 2.4 write speed..only options for dl media are 4,6 and 8...do you think the bad dye comes from there?

DR16JS0D or DR16BS0Y, my max burn speed is 4x, but I dont burn at that speed, 2.4x most of the time. It is possible that the disks are causing the problem, try verbatim, they are the best disks out there.

today i bought some JVC dvd+r dl discs ,i couldn t find any verbatim, i will problably order some online,when i got home and putted the media in the driver i realized that they were RITEK made...guess they aren t good, one more thing on the package is advertised speeds from 2.4 to 8 times, wen in the driver minimum write speed is 4,i ve used nero info tools to get this info, one more thing i have nero premium 7 running in my pc do you think i need to uninstall it in order to get imgburn fully functional,or not...

Depends on what ritek dye it is, some are okay, whilst others are bad. As for the error msg, it has nothing to do with nero, I have several apps, including dvd decrypter, imgburn, clonecd, and nero installed, and experience no problems, I really do think it has something to do with the disks.

If they burn fine, but the 360 doesnt read them, its definitely the disks. I cant come up with another solution, the RITEK-D03-01 is not a very good dye.

yes the burning process runs just fine yet when imgburn is checking for errors it always find some L-EC uncorrectible error, im already getting tired of this , i will try with verbatim one last time, if it doesn t work ill just give up then, anyway thank your attention...

MRocha, I've got the same problems with my 360. All the backups I make don't work in the 360. Although I rip them directly from my original and make a copy using the proper settings. I think it is the burner, I went through a 20 pack of Verbatims with about 8 working copies. I have a lite-on burner too, though mine originally came with hp firmware. I had to flash it with different firmware and then I could back up games for a while. All of a sudden it doesn't work. It's really weird. Anyway, the message my X-box says is disc is dirty, clean it or whatever. But in the menu screen it does say 'play game.' So I assume the data is there for whatever reason it won't boot up properly. I might get a pioneer 111d and see what happens. I'm curious to see if anyone else has any advice other than the discs are bad. I'm just about positive that isn't the case.
