I'm having problems with dvd+r dual layer back-ups that I have burnt. The problem is that when I watch a back up that I'v done about half way through the picture starts to freeze, then skips a head like 10 or seconds, and can do this 5 to 15 times. It only freezes for a second, but is quite annoying. Not sure if it's a disc problem or a burner problem. I'm thinking it's a problem with the layer brake. I have a spindle of 15 fuji dvd+r dl and this has happened to all 10 that I have tried. Im using clonedvd2 with anydvd, both updated, and the firmware for my burner is updated. Can any one help?????

Try some Verbatim DL discs. They are the only ones that I trust.

First off, i agree with GrandpaBW, use the good stuff if you're rolling with DL. Verbatim is top notch.

Maybe do the normal, good quality checklist. Like slow down your burn speed to 4x or 6x. Refrain from multitasking, at least durning the burning portion, although there's nothing wrong with NOT multitasking at all while rip/burning.

Perhaps you should try ImgBurn (freeware) as your DL burning engine.

I agree 100%. I first tried clonedvd for my DL and had all sorts of problems (alot like the OP is describing), changed to imgburn and haven't made a coaster since.

I also recommend the Verb DL as someone else stated.

Well I've tried the suggestions, made sure nothing else is running on my pc, slowed the write down to 2X and used ImgBurn to burn, and still the same with it freezing up at about 1h 20mins into watching the backup. I guess I'll have to try buying some verbatim disc's Thanks for the suggestions!

what ever output size is make it smaller, seems like last part of dvd doesnt player (to close to outer edge) but on dual layer not sure how you would compress think dvd shrink can do it???

this is got over by good verbatim +DL media

have you tried to watch these backups on more than one player? I'm starting to wonder if it's the player that causing the problems.

I agree on the player, I have an older Toshiba that won't play burnt DL's but my year old Sony has no problems with them. Try it in another player if you can.
