The stragest thing happened. I was able to successfully use a fix on The Simpsons Game and got it to work. All I had was an old Memorex DL and it burned good and was playable on the 360. I decided to keep the ISO as I had Verbatims on order. Once the Verbatims came in, I burned the exact same ISO and it showed up as unplayable on the xbox. Anyone have any suggestions as to why this occured. No settings were changed and its been stated that Verbatims are superior over Memorex. Also this is not my first backup. i have suceessfully used Verbatims and Memorex's in the past.
I think it something to do with that game, because I noticed when I burned The Simpsons game on Verbatim, it will sometimes be dirty disk. I have burned like 100 backups at least, it just seems like the ones which give me trouble are the EA ones like The Simpsons.
Verbatims ARE supperior to memosux, there is not doubt about that fact. Disc tests have been run and it is proven fact.
But, all burners are different, the same way that all DVD drives can be a little different. As far as what they read wel and what they burn well. My first suggestion would be to look at this site and see if there is any update to the firmware for your burner:

It surely could be the game as suggested, i do not that that one myself. But i have never run into a game that you could not duplicate and have a working copy for the 360.
So check this out. I decided to give up on the "Simpsons Game" backup (too many coasters). I downloaded another back up of mine and successfully burned and played it. As an experiment I burned the same ISO again just to see what would happen. And this time it burned and was an "unplayable dic" on my 360. This is killing my brain: Same ISO, two burns one works one does not. Am I safe to assume that there is some type of failure on my burner or on the media?
i dont know about the failed media but take it from me... DO NOT USE MEMOREX, and yes i am yelling that so you hear it clearly. i used memorex for 5 months worry free. then the laser on my 360 gave out. the cheap media made the laser strain and go bad. i had to get my whole dvd drive replaced in my 360, which costs money and takes time i now use verbatim and it works perfectly. i would suggest figuring out whatever it is that makes your verbatim disks not work and fix it!
If so, there's your answer. I had the same experience with my latest batch of Verbatim disks, having never had a problem with Verbatim before.
The good media from Verbatim are Made in Singapore. I heard that Verbatim recently outsourced to India and the disks made there are poor quality compared to the Singapore manufactured disks.
I thought I would give you guys an update. I failed to mention that the verbatims that I was using previously were the verbatims sold on newegg that are inkjet printables. I don't know where they are made but out of a 20 pack I was able to get 10 successful backups. All the other ones showed up as "unplayable discs". Last night I went to Office Max and bought the regular Verbatims (from Singapore) and I am at a 100% success ratio thus far with 5 successfull burns on 5 discs. I will no longer buy the ink printable ones (even though they make the backups look sweet as hell) At this point I am looking for reliability over asthetics.
i have the darker grey verbs from india and must say this is very weird. my memosux games work perfect but my verbs from india say unplayable. the verbs from singapore work perfect aswell. im thinking maybe the made in india verbs have a stronger dye making it harder to read? makes no sense to me.
