I just bought a PSP for Christmas. I have several ISOs/CSOs to play on the PSP. I have tried several solutions from this website, but, so far, I can not get them to work.
My PSP has 3.71 OFW and, on the bottom of the PSP, it says that it is a PSP2001.
Now, as to what I have tried so far:
1) Created a folder called '\ISO' on the main directory of the memory stick.
2) Attempted to use several of the software that I have found, but they did not work, either. The software that I tried was UMDEmulator V0.8c and Fastloader V0.7.
I have read that I probably will not be able to play ISOs/CSOs will not work on 3.71 OFW, but I was not sure of what direction to try, next. I saw that I might have to downgrade, but I have also read many warnings that I can turn my PSP into a "brick".
I would really like to be able to get this to work because I have one game that I bought that I would like to play it directly from the memory stick. I have Final Fantasy Tactics and it plays pretty slow because of all the times that the UMD has to be accessed.
Thank you for any help that someone can give me. Since I have been reading this site for the last week, it seems like MANY people have been helped using this site and I hope I can be the next one.

Okay, I was reading both of the options (using CFW or OFW), and I have a few more questions:
1) I probably will not purchase the Pandora's Battery, therefore, I will probably try to use the CFW approach. I have tried to put my PSP into Recovery Mode, but have not had any success. If I try to install the CFW and something does not work, can I "re-boot" the PSP back to factory defaults? I was thinking that I would use Recovery Mode (hold down the right trigger button while cutting on the PSP), but it never worked. Is there a way that if converting my PSP to CFW does not work, can I "go back" to 3.71 OFW?
2) Since I have never seen any CFW, does it function just like the OFW? Does it look the same? Are there any visible differences?
One last thing, I have looked for an exact guide on how to create a ISO/CSO from the UMD that I own, but have found quite a few. I was wondering is there a particular guide/software that would work the best?
Also, I just wanted to say, I have been on several forums for other subjects, but this is the first one that I have received a quick response from. Thank you very much for such a quick response and no "flaming".

The recovery mode is only available on the custom firmware. To get that, you must first downgrade using a pandora battery and magic memory stick, on your PsP, there is no other way.
Also, embedded in the CFW, there's a perfectly working UMD ripper. But you'd have to get it first.

In the directions, after creating the "Magic Memory Stick", it has 2 sections that you must choose from:
1) PANDORA GUIDE: THOSE THAT HAVE 1.50 FIRMWARE PSP
2) PANDORA GUIDE: THOSE THAT HAVE CUSTOM FIRMWARE PSP
If I am starting from the beginning using this guide (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610312), which section would I go to next, section 1 (THOSE THAT HAVE 1.50 FIRMWARE PSP) or section 2 (THOSE THAT HAVE CUSTOM FIRMWARE PSP)?
How can I tell if I have a FAT or a SLIM PSP if my version is PSP2001? Do I meet the qualifications to use this guide; it says at the beginning that my PSP "...must have a 1.50 FAT PSP or a FAT/SLIM PSP with custom firmware to use this guide..." Since mine has the 3.71 OFW, can I use this guide in my circumstances?

I have seen where everyone is talking about purchasing a Pandora's battery online or possibly making one by doing some "adjustments" in your PSP. Since I am not very mechanical in nature (I do not know how to solder wires, etc.) and I would prefer not to buy a Pandora's battery online, is there any way that I can "force" my PSP to play ISOs/CSOs? That is mainly what I would like to do with my PSP.
