hey guys sorry about this i'm sure it's been asked a million times, I searched through the forums but nothing specifically answering my question.

now from what I can pick up you're eventually gonna get banned from live.. ok I can live with that, but I read that MS were bricking some consoles a while back, so which is it?

If I play Live is there any chance my console will be full on bricked? or is it just going to get eventually banned?

I mean if the worst that can happen is it gets banned I might as well just go on Live since banning me will still allow me to play offline anyways right? i'm not really losing anything... i'm just gaining temporary Live.

Thanks for any help guys. (btw I don't rly care about playing live I just want the voice pack for naruto sad I know :p)

M$ has and will not brick consoles through live. Just imagine the fun it would be if they would brick a console that was not modded (normal consoles have been banned accidentally)

ahh right so what I read was talking about firmware updates like with the wii right?

Well anyways that makes me feel a lot safer, because the way I see it never going on live pretty much put me in the same boat as being banned anyways so i might as well do it eh :)

EDIT: only thing is when I go to go online it tells me there's an update to firmware available I bought the console like 3 days ago and they put the latest firmware on... so this should be safe right?

Dashboard and game updates wont affect the firmware on the dvd drive.

What Meraman is saying is true. You mine as well play live till you get your system banned. In that case just buy a new system and don't mod it. Play originals on live and back ups on modded system.

ok guys thanks for all the help since joining afterdawn i've learnt how to rip/burn games and get on live without fear.

also a mate of mine who bought a chipped box like 2 months ago is now learning from me... he's also very happy to find out he can actually go on live without killing the xbox so thanks guys :)
