I am thinking of buying a 360, and while i was surfin on some sites I saw that there are 360 games that can be downloaded. A friend told me that these games need special chip to be played, and won't work on the normal 360. Is thius true, and if so how can the games be played on the 360?? Do we put them on the hard drive.
Sry don't know anything about the 360, I'm new to it.

PS : Will downloaded games work on Xbox live

you can either get a chip or reflash your dvd drive with modified firmware.

The modified firmware will allow your console to play a specially created copy of a game.

No such hack is available yet to play the game from Hard drive,
Games should be burnt to a DVD-R DL (DVD9) and bitset to DVD-ROM

You should read up a bit first before trying any of this.

you may be able to play downloaded games but i would always recommend to make your own backups because playing one downloaded you dont know if it has been created properly and could end up getting your console banned from xbox live.

I have decided to buy a 360, now or within a few months. After reading on this site and doing some field research I have some questions.

Where I live it is easy to get a 360 with a chip installed, and versions of the game (pirated) are widely sold. These games work on chipped 360s. Does this mean they are patched? And will they work on Xbox Live.

Do you have to open the 360 to patch and will this void the warranty?

Could someone please link me to a thread on how to flash a 360.

What would you reccomend I do?? (I have a dual layer burner)

Thanks for the links they were helpful, but Im not too sure on how to flash the drive so I may stay away.

If I get a chipped 360 and buy those "fake" games, will I get banned from Live.

Do I need to flash a chipped 360??

How does microsoft know which consoles to ban???
