Quick qeustion. THe only way to use backed up games is to use the tool to open the cd drawer on the Playstation, rite?

I own a chubby ps2, and I don't want to buy the fliptop modded case for the chubby.

If I was to backup all my games to the hdd (on an exploited PS2). How can I back them up? Im always worried of the HDD crashing or stops working. Is it possible to back them up onto a DVD?
