I had the same problem until I did what I suggested, so I don't know what is wrong with yours. Try buurning like this:

Download the following programs:

Friidump v 0.4.0.0 to dump the ISO
&
IMG BURN

Save the friidump folder on you C: in program files.
Insert your SSBB original into your "LG" drive.
Click on "START" for windows
Click on run
Type: cmd
Then click: OK
Type: cd..
Hit enter
Keep typing cd.. until you only see c:\> in dos
Now type: cd program files
Hit enter
Type: cd friidump
Hit enter
Type: friidump -d f: -a
(NOTE: f: is for my "LG" drive. Go to my computer and find out where you drive is located and put the corresponding letter there. For example, if your LG drive is the e drive then type -d e: -a, g drive would be friidump -d g:-a)
hit enter and the dump should start.

Once it is complete (about 6hrs or more) go to my computers. Click c: and click on program files. Find your friidump file, open it and you will find you BRAWL iso. Check it to make sure the Bytes are the correct size. Right click the file, then click properties. It should be 8,511,160,320
Now open IMG BURN and click on mode, write, select the Brawl file from the C: in the program file called friidump. Put in a DL disk a burner that will burn DL disk. Click Burn..

Use Verbatim DL DVD+R at 2.4x

Go to TOOLS, SETTINGS, WRITE. On options LAYER BREAK for DL media (top right) select USER SPECIFIED and enter 2084960. Click ok and then burn.

I'm having trouble loading this game. I have an NTSC wii firmware 3.4U with drivekey (2nd batch) installed.

Here are the drivekey settings:

Drivekey: ON
Region Override: ON
Update Blocker: Import
WII Disc Autoboot: OFF
Full GC Region Free: On

I've tried burning the NTSC Wizard release to DVD+R DL without any success. I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL burned at 4x (slowest it can burn) with ImgBurn v2.4.4.0. I keep getting the message "An error has occurred. Press the Eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting."

I've tried with the custom layer break at 2084960 and at the default
"calculate optimal"

Here are the logs, if that helps:

All DVD5 backups load without a hitch. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Your using the right disk Verbatim DL DVD+R

Are you sure you can't choose 2.4x speed in your burner.

I don't know much about drivekey, except it does work with drivekey x4.

Some have said it doesn't work on older versions.

Got it to work. You have to change the book type to ROM. I didn't know you had to do that. Burned with ImgBurn with custom layer break at 2084960.

Which one do you select +R or DL media for booktype? I would assume DL

Actually using memorex. Been told they should work...yes I know I should use verbs, but why buy them for one game?

I'm installing a wiikey in my friends wii. He has a Pal wii and an US version of smash bros (original), that he was using with the freeloader.

He is currently on 3.2E but wants to update. Will the NTSC SSB try update his wii, even if he is on 4.0E or whatever?

Ohk first off I have been trying to fix this issue my self for awhile now and I have had no luck finding similar threads at all so I thought I would start one myself and hopefully some one out there can help me.

So my issue is that my SSBB freezes in same constant locations in the game and the one that I keep testing is the Home-Run Contest (I can play but I cant exit). So on my original copy it doesn't freeze at all but I on't wont to use that and damage my disc so I done a full disc backup to Verbatim DVD-R DL burning on the lowest speed. So I came to a conclusion that it's just not going to work and before I try out doing a single layer backup I thought I'll try my luck on AD since I'ts helped me out so much times before LoL.

So my Wii is PAL and has 4.0E
I have a Wiikey, cIOS38 rev13 installed.

So my Wii plays the original with no problems,
My DVD-R DL disc has the freezing issue.
Booting from USB Loader 1.5 with a backup made from the original and the backup DL is also having the freezng issue.

So I was just hoping to get some solid answers to fix my DL before I go to a SL disc as I still want Full content of the game.

Any help is appreciated.
If you need any more information just ask.

EDIT:
I also had this issue with 3.2E onwards and no cIOS onwards aswell.

After several issues with playing Brawl from a DL disc, I just went for the single layer version.
I was very happy to find out that the (DL) image works perfectly with USB Loader. You guys should check that out.

Hello,

I can boot up the game, but when I beat kirby in adventure mode I get this error message: An error has occured. Press the Eject BUtton, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information

Additionally, the cutscenes lag and run about 1/2 speed.

I modded my wii following these guide:
http://my.afterdawn.com/larrylje_redwings/blog_entry.cfm/3809
http://my.afterdawn.com/larrylje_redwings/blog_entry.cfm/3810

I also made a copy of brawl using this guide and the DVD backup program (the one that streams to your pc). I burnt it to a verbatim DVD+R DL, using the setting provided in the .dvd file in the guide.
http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=91738

My legit copy of brawl works fine with no issues. Is this a bad burn?

I obtained a DVD5 version online. It also has the same issue

I tried using CIOS rev 14, rev 13, rev 10 and I always have the same issue. I've tried both NeoGamma R6 and R7

If you discover a fix, please let me know.

I used to run SSBB off of a backup disk but now I'm trying to run SSBB on my USB drive. it all works fine unless I do SSE. The error I get is a green screen saying to "Eject the disk, turn off the Wii", etc. Strangely, I was able to play about 20 levels in SSE from the disk before I got this error. now i can't play the next level from either disk or USB drive.

Anyone have some insight into how to get this game working from the USB?
