I know that burning at 4x is suppost to help with read errors.

Does the burn speed affect the game?

How fast it runs, how well it runs?

I need some advice here.

I enjoy going down to the store, and spending money on blank dvds.

it really depends on your drive. 4X is the magic number so I would just stick with that.

no, the actual burning speed that you burn the game at doesn't affect the quality of the game. the only thing that the burning speed increases or decreases is

1.) Time
2.) Integrity of the data being written (Burning 4+gb of data is not and easy job, and the slightest bump of the computer or wobble of the disk can move/misalign the laser 1/4 the width of a human hair.. or less... if something goes wrong when writing to disk.. the disk wont play.. simple as that. The slower you burn the disk, the more room for error there is. I personally burn most things at 4x, although I have had a few instances when 2.4x has had to be used.

4x is probably the speed you want to begin with. For games that does alot of loading, you might want to stick with the slow burning method.

no. thats the last thing you would want to do.

re-read what I wrote.

The FASTER you burn, the integrity of the data is LOWERED.
The SLOWER you burn, the integrity of the data is HIGHER.

I have tried to burn at 8X and I have never had problems, if you dont mind loosing a few DVDs, I will suggest you to TEST it, burn a game at 16X and then try it, if it doesnt work then go to 8X if it doenst work then go to 4X and thats it.... TEST it, you will only loose 2 DVDs if it doesnt work.

D2C key - i use Verbatim dvd-r 16x.

I use Nero 7 to burn my games at 2.4x

Only had 1 tea coaster so far and thats because my mediaserver lost its link to the network where my ISO's are stored so ,y laptop couldnt continue burning.

Thats what works for me.
